Future of Transportation Options

Seems like theres a lot of hybrids coming out these days, I was just looking at Toyotas lineup coming out this to next year and they have like 6 cars from SuVs to Sports coupes that are hybrid powered.

Thinking soon with gas prices increasing, and OPEC saying they want gas prices at $60 a barrel that hybrids and alt fuel cars will become very popular.

Basically the huge increase in fuel cost is going to spur a lot of innovative growth in Car technology and the next few years are going to a rush.

i say a surge of used trucks onto the market, thus reducing the cost of the NEW trucks, and having the new ones stay similarily as popular for the time to be... Toyota and honda are going to make $$$ licensing their pioneered hybrid technology, plain and simple... Hydrogen is too far away in my opinion because of the saftey issues...

Exactly think of all the money they made selling their old pruis technology to ford as they came out with newer generation.

I just read that Toyota's licensing their hybrid technology to Nissan. Nissan has to produce 100,000 vehicles a year. They're going to mate the hybrid technology with their 2.5 Altimas and also put them in the Maxima and others with the 3.5 V6. My wife has the 2.5 Altima, I wonder if I'll be able to retrofit a hybrid system into it. Probably too complicated.

there is a good video on msn about the bmw hydrogen car, it uses a motor very similar to a regular combustions engine that recombindes the hydrogen and oxygen to make an exhaust of just water. this motor unlike other hydrogen motors with the fuel cell design (makes about 50 hp) this one puts out 260hp. bmw said there are enogh hydrogen refueling places in germany to start selling cars with this kind of motor in just a few years. the main thing is that because the motor is so similar to a normal motor today there not as exspencive to make as a fuel cell.

I think that thoes types of motors are the future, fuel cells are so exspencive and dont produse much power that they will not last.

and hybrid motors still use gas, just less of it, we need to get compleatly away from gas because its just to limited a resource, hydrogen is a endless resource because its just water the earth is mostly water anyway, and the exhaust from it is water as well, meaning its compleatly reusable.
