I am just using the Solara tranny for kicks for now, I would like to deff get something with LSD, but Solara will work for now.

I got my engine really cheap first because I bought a wrecked mr2 for 500$ then you also have to find other things to make this swap work which im still tracking.

I didnt buy a clip (regretably) and my cost was 1500 shipped for the engine and some of the parts. About 300 for other parts needed. So roughly $1800.

what were the other parts that you needed?

so its better to go for a clip instead of piecing it together.. but what about reliability? would it be better reliability for a clip vs an engine or about even?

You want power but have no money. That's a problem.

Cheap. Reliable. Fast. Pick two.
