Well ive been running frams, being the fact they are easy to get your hands on. Recently I have been hearing these are horrible oil filters... whats a good brand? Ive heared amazing reviews of purolator filters but I cant find them anywhere! Does anyone know of a good online resaler for oil and filters?

I always use Toyota OEM filters...they're really good. I hear that Amsoil and Mobil 1 are even better though...I plan to make the switch to those if they're not too pricey.

I use Mobil1 oil filter. I like it, because it seems to free up some horsepower.. But it could be just my mind playing tricks on me. I heard that castrol oil filters will put bad films on the engine internals though.. I used K&N filters before.. But I don't know which one to use on the 6GC's..

its in your head

if you really want to decide what filter to use, cut the used filter open and look inside... then put a mobil filter in and cut that open after you are done with it, then compare the 2.

ive been using mobil products (10w-30 mobile 1 with the mobile 1 filter), but due to personal oiling issues and from alot of first hand accounts from other friends, im going to try switching it all over to amsoil after my next oil change.

What's bad about Fram? I use Fram too mainly because of that black grip.

fram lacks the drain plug like other filters have. when you shut your car off the oil is suppose to stay in filter to keep some oil ready for start up. fram filters lack that and hard on engines because of it. "from what a mechanic told me"...he suggest purolaters or napa

I'm not a believer of the hype. I bought my celica with 100,000 miles on it and I've put another 150k on it myself and all I've used are Frams. I just change them every 3,000.

I have done the same.. not as mnay miles. But I have been useing Fram.. never had a problem with them. Also cant see spending $13 on a k&n one. I also change my oil every 2500 miles, cause i dont drive much. I think im going to try the mobil1 next time just cause thats the oil i tend to use.

I too, like coomer use the toyota filters. They are often even cheaper then frams if you check out a few of your local dealers. I have seen them as cheap as $3.50.

It would be more efective to use 2 or 3 toyota or fram filters instead of one K&N. And yes you can change just the filter...

Also TRD oil filters are supost to be some of the best, but $20+ for an oil filter is insane unless your running a true "high performance machine"

I think I have a Blitz filter. Seems OK.

Blitz Spec NUR Exhaust, somewhere over $1000
Needing another one 18000 miles later, bloody annoying.
