I have the stock blinker relay and a 6x blinker relay. I want to wire it with a switch between the two relays so that I can switch back to stock speed if I find myself getting tailed. Has anyone done this?

And dangerous also. It's important the people are able to see your turn signals.

Edit: But if you really want, I could write up some sort of a diagram for you. Are both of the blinker relays SPDT relays?

Shid you have a hot temper these days.

Yeah, its ricey because its useless, stupid garbage that is just waste of money that could be devoted to something better. And my first thought would also be that you have a bulb out.

If you replace your blinkers with LED bulbs you will get the same effect (fast flashing). Persionally I think it looks better blinking at the normal rate. How much did your 6x blinker cost you?

Yeah, that's true. That's the reason that I got rid of my LED blinker bulbs.

There is LED blinker relays avaiable now. They plug in to your existing relay plug and they are rated for 0.02 - 10A so they blink at a normal rate when using LED bulbs. They are about $25 NZD or $18 USD.

I think it was about 16 dollars. The bottom line is that I like it for my car and I dont get condecending about the mods on other peoples cars and would appreciate the same treatment. I do want to wire it so that I can toggle between the two speeds, I understand that people arent used to seeing a blinker flashing this fast and I dont intend to keep it in 6x speed in normal driving, but if Im with friends out at night I would like the option to switch speeds for my own personal pleasure.

The blinker is the same type as the stock one to be best of my knowledge except for the speed. Its made to replace the existing relay.

And if you dont like it Ill remember not to signal before I sideswipe you. j/k

I love all you haters.

I've thought about a good way to do it. Check back in this thread in a week and I should have a solution made up that costs under $5. smile.gif

I've never changed the blinker relay, but as an electrician, I know you just can replace the charging resistor that feeds the capacitor which fires the relay to a variable resistor so you can adjust the blinking speed depending on the setting. Again, i've never seen a car's blinker relay setup, but I know the basic concept and unless the capacitor/relay/resistor is an all in one device, you should be able to customize the blinker speed with a simple resistor swap to a variable controlled one.

How exactly would you wire up a pot to replace that resistor? I tried, using the two outside terminals on the pot connected to the ends where the resistor was, but the car just blinks a little bit faster than it did before, and adjusting the pot does nothing. I have a feeling that I was supposed to use the middle terminal on the pot for something...can you confirm this?
