so, if I just used bigger injectors (440cc) with the walbro 255lph fuel pump, does it provide enough fuel or do I <i>need</i> some kind of fuel controller like an SAFCII to put even more fuel in? As in, if I just used the injectors and fuel pump, and retard my timing like a degree or two at the distributor, would it run alright?

no.
because the 460s are so much larger than our stock injectors, at idle, and low load points, you will need to pull out a bunch of fuel.
the idea behind the 460s is this:
under boost, you'd much rather be on the rich side, rather than lean.
with the 460's your able to get a nice stable A/f ratio under boost., with minor changes with the SAFCII
the side effect is that it is normally way to rich @ idle and part throttle cruising, and that is where the SAFCII REALLYcomes in.
(or the emanage ultimate now, in my case wink.gif )

something just occured to me. if I have a cali-spec car with 2 o2 sensors will I have to have a downpipe from a cali-spec mr2?

Just wondering if you figured out your problem at 4500rpm? if you are pulling out fuel at that point with a SAFC it is actually advancing your timing as a side effect which could be causing knock! if you are pulling fuel i advise to drop down a size smaller injectors and only add fuel in higher rpm's or drop your base fuel pressure enough so you are only adding fuel. the pulling fuel does not hurt so much in the low rpm cause of low boost but the high boost and high rpm and pulling fuel will kill your tune!!
Just though i would offer some help since i am rarely on here anymore

now the next thing is the oil feed line, and what to use for it.
the line for the oil feed should be no larger than -3an (3/16") alot of people have used re-enforced rubber hose for this, but IMO its one of those things where it just makes sense to spend the money to do it right to avoid problems later on.
www.atpturbo.com will custom make you a pre assembled -3an line with whatever ends you need (1 straight, 1 90 degree) for about 40$ shipped. it looks like this:

then you just buy 2 STEEL -3an to 1/8"npt fittings, they looks like this:

you can get them from www.summitracing.com for under 3$ ea +shipping. the PT # is EAR961603ERL
use one for the head fitting i talked about earlier, and take the other fitting, and the stock oil line to you local machine shop, and have them cut the banjo bolt off the stock line, and weld the fitting onto it. heres a few pics of what i am talking about. thanks to erichack for the pics.

with that setup, you can pretty much forget about it, once its been run and know theres no leaks.
for the return, IMO the best setup is the stock 3s setup, meaning the 3s oil pan (yes it bolts right up) with the stock 3s rubber elbow between that and the stock return line. the rubber elbow is like 38$ from toyota, but again, its not one of those things where you wanna cheap out. its worked on the 3s for 10+ yrs, it'll work for us as well. this is what it looks like installed:

hey, I was just wondering exactly what length you got for the oil feed line?

also, what did you do for coolant lines? I have the stock 3s coolant lines here, and one end goes to the turbo (obviously) and then there are two hoses that come from there, I was wondering where you hooked those two hoses to?

there should be 2 coolant lines going to the turbo, you cut the TB coolant lines and tap into them.
the oil feed line can be ~18" iirc.


DG, im WAY past the SAFC stage, and just for future refrence, IMO the actual opposite happens with the SAFC on the 5s, because its map based.
i always had more trouble when i ADDED fuel.
odd enough, but thats how it went.
im running the emanage ultimate + WI, so no more hesitation here wink.gif

Well so my buddy made 290hp on 98 honda ex motor with a home made turbo kit in his EG hatch. So I am reconsidering this instead of going the 3S route. I'm gathering parts right now also. I've read Mannys post and reading it again. Honda's are over rated and too common! haha. Thanks again manny for this awesome post.

ya really need to teflon tape those. or ya be seeing oil leaks everywhere lol. manny had his over where the battery was and i had mine where the washer fluid tube is. that's a shorter route if ya don't have ABS.
