I am the owner of a Celica GT-4 JMD and my previous car was a WRX.
I`m driving the GT-4 for 10 days now and as long i`m driving the GT-4 i am discovering what an excellent car it is.
First of all i moved to the GT-4 because of reliability. The WRX i had was a Version 4 JDM excellent performance and handling but nothing more, you have to be careful with a lot of things like dont shift from high rpm because the Gearbox are very sensitive, dont work the turbo too much because of the oil temp, dont push it so much at high rpms because the rods are sensitive e.t.c. and i am asking you "THEN WHY TO HAVE A FAST CAR LIKE THAT AND AFRAID TO DO WHAT YOU BOUGHT IT FOR???" because if you want to buy a WRX you are not going to buy it just for the name or to have a walk at the park. And besides after all isnt a real sport car(doesnt even have the look),is so cheap inside(interior) and it has so expensive parts.
Now,having the GT-4 i really feel that i`m driving a sports car i`m pushing it, it has excellent handling like the WRX,very nice interior and also exterior and its really a quality car that deserve all the money you spend on it.
So the point isnt who is going to win the race, but who is going to keep up with the race and stay in time.
I am very lucky own a Celica.

That's awesome man. I'm glad someone here at this club can add a GT-Four to their garage. Congrats on getting it!

Yes, bit the STI coming to america has a different engine and gear box than any other WRX on Earth. It might be better. Too bad we don't ahve GT-4's... well, at least not good looking 6th gens.

I think the WRX is the ugliest car on the planet. I don't care how fast it goes if it looks like trash forget it.

Think twice if you going to buy a WRX.Yes the STI has differences BUT is not for reliability its for performance only the pistons are a little bit stronger things like gearbox has just shorter ratio. You dont ALLOW to make mistakes.
And for my point of you cou can not even compare a car like WRX with anyone Celica 6G.
I`v been for 6 months owner of a WRX and that teach me a lot.

I like that thought:)

How do you guys feel about losing? A racer-enthusiast friend of mine challenged me to a race in the next two years. I accepted without knowing that it was all in it for fun. Later I found out that he's really dead serious. Knowing what car he's driving and his plans to hit 11s on his honda crx(89?). IMO I think he might be able to pull that off if he + team members highly tunes the car.

On the other hand, if he wins than it's cool. the problem is where he loses, things might get carried away and i don't want that. Has anyone ever been in this situation? any suggestions on how to handle this situation?

Im probably biased, since a couple of years ago I went for a cruise through the hills in a 300kw WRX that had about 20g's spent on it (AU). Best cornering car I have ever been in. - and yes I have been in a GT4. It was 2 am on Jan the 2nd and I was still buzzing from a bit of speed so it was a fun trip smile.gif

Oh and by the way. IT IS SOOO ABOUT WHO'S GOING TO WIN!!!

He was just lucky that he didnt had any problems with the WRX but believe me,its a matter of time for something to start ticking tongue.gif
Also another thing i notice today with the GT-4,the AWD of GT-4 has nothing to do with Subaru AWD,when i`m turning and i`m on boost the Rear wheels push hard, its somehow intelligent how it works for the WRX wasnt like this.

Hehe, yes its fun Wrx has amazing torque but I DONT COMPARE it with my GT-4.Its not fun spending your money fixing Subaru`s mistakes or actually make them rich because i think that Reliable is better than TOO FAST but its better to not find out this by yourself biggrin.gif Let somebody tell you that frown.gif

what do u mean ONLY 135? a WRX doesent have much top end it just has amazing off the line and handling I could be wrong but i dont think the WRX will do over 150 i think its like 145 or something....but its still a sweet car i would probably take one over my celi but then again if i had that much money i would either buy a supra or just put a 3sgte in mah car

The WRX is speed limited at 180 kmph (~111 mph).

Not that people haven't removed this b4. - the one i was in got up to 250k's.

yeah the WRX is geared for low end torque, that way you can cane it at high revs
at low and mid bands but the revs will max out about 140-145, but what rally car will do that speed in the twisty roads in the forests of Finland or any other of the world rally circuits. Its built for stop and start speed bursting not for straight line racing.... wink.gif
