In my never-ending quest to install the perfect alarm system, I've recently purchased extra sensors, a backup battery, even more sirens, one of those LED scanner things, and lots more, and now I'm just about ready to install the stuff. I've just got a couple questions.

1. I have an Autopage RS-650 alarm, and I want to run two LEDs instead of one(one LED in the top rear of each door.) I have two 2 or 3 volt(can't remember specifically) LEDs, and would wire them in series, but I'm wondering, has anyone wired extra LEDs to the LED output of their Autopage alarm? I know DEI brains can typically handle up to 5 LEDs.

2. The alarm brain is going under my seat, under my carpet, in a fabricated metal enclosure that will bolt into the car and be next to impossible for a theif to access. My four-wire Autopage antenna, unfortunately, will not reach the top of the dash from this location. Can I cut the harness and solder in wires to extend the antenna wiring, or will that cause problems?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. smile.gif

Yep, I know that mine are 2 or 3 volts...I can't remember which, but it's not going to make a large difference I don't think.

I can't see you having any problems if you use wires of equal gauge/quality and do a good job soldering.

You should have no problem with the leds and the 2 doors and one by the clock are a great ideal. I have never extended an antenna, I would suggest cut the very tip to play around with it and bring up your pillars to the windshield top. If my memory is not mistaken Coomer I think they sell antenna extenders.

i would suggest measuring how much volts the wires puts out for the led. And consulting the forum on the12volts.com

I'm not any good with complex led curcuits. When ever you add a parrallel curuit to a serial curcuit, it changes the volts to the rest of the led's.. Maybe consult doggy about led? But you best bet is to talk to the folks on the12volts.

Have you though about adding hyper bright leds?
