i've been hearing stories how cars are very easily stolen.

they first pull the cable in the grill to pop the hook. then disconnect the battery. After that, they can by pass the start kill switch with a wire from the battery to the starter. or push start the car.

You really can't do much once your battery is disconnect.

best way to prevent your car from getting stolen is to get a fuel pump cut switch and install it in a hidden place. The car will not start unless you flip the switch to the on position. Cost of the mod will be $10.

You can use a relay to do the same thing...then you don't have to deal with a switch.

You can also use a clutch switch kill switch/relay.

You can also install a hood pin so that as soon as your hood pops, the alarm goes off.

You can re-route the hood cable.

You can buy a hood lock.

Use battery-backup sirens and a battery backup on the brain.

Leave the car in gear, get a tilt sensor...it makes it harder to steal your car with a tow truck.

Get a quick release steering wheel and take the wheel off when you go somewhere.

Get multiple sirens, some horns(like 10 ) from junkyard cars, and hook them all up. Make it so that your car will be heard for miles.

There are lots of ways to make a car secure. If a thief really wants your car though, they'll get it. It's all about layers of security though. If you make it hard to break into your car, chances are the thief will move on to the next car that's easier to take.

Never tested it and haven't installed any extra alarm gear but i'm pretty sure the alarm goes off if the bonet is popped without disarming the alarm, same as if you try to open the boot..... (not sure whether this standard tho). I read somewhere too, probably here, that you can tell what set the alarm off by the way one of the ignition lights flashes?!

That's all alarm/install dependent.

even if the alarm goes off.. it doesnt take much time for them to disconnect the battery. most alarms that get installed by shops put the fuses right next to the battery. So if the theft wanted they could just pull out the fuse and the car alarm is gone.

most alarms are disarmed when the battery is reconnected. So car securtiy is pretty crappy.

Both my friends integras got stolen with alarms.

That's why you get battery backups, and mount them so that they're well hidden, along with the brain, which should also be well hidden. And hide multiple battery-backup sirens too.

Did your friends have battery backup stuff and fuel pump and clutch switch kills?

MNot top mention that the door locks can be poped with a coat hanger in 30 seconds.. So very sad..

Also my Alarm is giving me all sorts of greaf .. stupid remote and stupid compant for not warnting the warnty.. basterds i tell you.

no my friend didnt have a too tricked out alarm.. it was a stock integra gsr, nothing too impressive.

coomer you need to tell me how you hooked up those back up battery sirens.

i'm having problems figuring them out.

I wouldn't want to have to carry a magnet around on my keychain every time I wanted to start the car. I'd rather use fuel pump, starter, clutch switch, and ECU power kills with relays and not worry about the magnet thing.

I got to agree with what coomer is saying, and alarm tech is getting real good these days. I would also recommend the brake lock and the auto taser. Hood locks are a very cheap option.

What's the auto taser consist of? Tasing whoever touches your car?

well if a auto taser is wut i saw the other day in the audio shop, it sends 100 volts through the steering wheel.

Just put a warning on the steering wheels that says "stealing this car may be hazardous to your health"

I agree - its all just level's of security. If someone really wants it they'll tow it.

Personally I have the factory alarm which in Aus includes a microwave sensor and backup battery. Microwave sensor means if you stand next to the car for to long it will sound a warning and if anything is put in the car (ie person) alarm instantly goes off. The alarm is fairly loud - loud enough for me to hear when its parked at home.

I also put in a secondary immobaliser which is seperate from the factory system. It works on RFID, I just carry the RFID card with me and it turns off when I get in the car - no switches or anything. Its wired into several very hard to get places, lets just say if you were going to drive my car away it would take you awhile.
