Tonight or tomorrow I'm going to try to get a hoist from a friend for the weekend and attempt to pull my engine to the point where it will move around so that I can get the rear mount in.

To do this, I need the engine to be free of all the mounts so it can twist just a bit. Now here's my question. First I'll show the pic.

Can I simply attach chains to those two brackets to support the engine and move it around a bit while I get the mount in?

im 75% sure that you just use the two engine hangers you circled and youll be fine. Im only 75% because ive never done it myself, but have seen it done a few times, so i would take my advice with caution.

If you want some help during, im free during the day during the weekend.

coomer, yes those are the 2 hooks for taking an engine out. thats all you need to connect. just make sure u have a chain that can support the weight and an engine lift.

the way you are trying to do these mounts is kind of wrong, tho. you need the drop that horizontal crossmemeber 1st. normally when puting an engine in, you want to do the tranny mount 1st (right) the timing belt one 2nd (left) then the rear and the front.

once you have that hoizontal crossmember down, you can fit that mount right in there and then bolt everything back on.

Yes... what lagos said. They're specifically there for pulling the engine in/out. Mine doesn't have those... =[

The horizontal crossmember on my car can't go any lower, because the steering rack that's bolted to it hits the tranny mount bracket. I just need to swing the engine forward(towards the radiator), then put in the mount, then swing it back and lower it a bit and bolt it all in.

You might be able to get away with just removing the front mount and swinging the engine forward enought to take out the rear. I seem to remember I didn't remove the two side mounts to remove the crossmember and oil pan. But do support the engine with a hoist, and don't be an idiot like me and lift the front of the car up with the hoist smile.gif
