Well im trying to sleep buy jons friggen St celica was going down the road and then made weird noises so he says then just shut off totally. i heard the car cranking over the cell phone. to me it sounds like either fuel or spark. ie fuel pump or coil, distro cap. any input. i feel bad lol hes stranded now. the cars is cranking fine which rules out battery or the altinator. he said he smells a sort of buring smell wich could be the coil my guess. so yeah any input?
im going to bed smile.gif

haha... i was just coming here to make a post to get some input... i had it towed to a place at like 3am by AAA... the guy agreed with me that it looks like its just not getting any fuel, but im going to go to the place and drop off my keys so they can just fix my car... but how much does a fuel pump cost to replace if that is it?

id imagine around a hundred for a pump? labor is not much at all. its just a few wires and hoses under the back seat.

$100 for the pump
$110 @ 55 an hour labor
tax

around 250-300 i'm guessing

well.... i payed to have it diagnosed since i really wanted a quick fix becuase i really need my car. unfortunatley it isnt the distributor or the fuel pump frown.gif somehow, the timing belt ive had on the car for less than 2k miles got shredded... the guy then started rambling off all this stuff that "should" be done, and i just got lost in his rambling... so im having my step father whos a mechanic call them this morning and find out what it really needs... cuz he quoted me at $1500 on what "should" be done, which is rediculous, coincidering i just put $600 into it... my cars not even worth $2100 lol... damnit this sucks....

If the timing belt was only on for 2k miles do you have some sort of warranty from the shop that put it on or even from the manufacturer?

too bad, but I don't think you have any warranty. If you change the timingbelt, you're advised to replace belt tensioner and pulley's also.
Manufacturers have themselves covered against claims due to things like this.

It's just like the 3s right? Undo the pass motor mount, remove crank pulley, then timing belt cover, and work in tight spots.

well i brought my car to my stepfathers on saturday... i can pick it up on wednesday... the tensioner siezed up which caused the timing belt to shred itself pretty much... nothing else was damaged. so all i need is a new tensioner and timing belt.
