Well, like the title suggests, I might not be on for a long while. I still want to make the Pigeon Forge meet, but maybe not in the Celica.

At this point you're probably thinking I got in a wreck. The Celi is still fine and still running strong. Now to get to the point. I found a 92 MR2 NA for 3500 and am going to see about the money details first thing monday morning. It's a nice shade of blue(not factory), and has been well taken care of with just under 83k on it.
If I get it, I will post pics/details ASAP(and then find an MR2 board to hang with while still trying to keep up to date here). Just depends on what my bank says. I only owe 1500 on the Celica, so there shouldn't be a problem getting 5k to pay both off, or if I'm lucky getting 8k to cover the credit card as well. I don't care the % rate, as long as I have 2 of my 3 favorite cars in the driveway. I've been needing a second car anyways to prepare for the 7AFE giving up and being replaced with a 3SGTE(and then fortified with the goodies at the nice place Oreo posted about in Chicago).

[edit] forgot to mention, my brother in law is getting a Tiburon V6, which makes my need for a car with better power/weight ratio that much more important. He needs to be taught that a Hyundai is still a Hyundai and not a sports car. [/edit]

Can understand your moving for an MR2, I had the 3SFE
version of the 6 gen and man was that weak. Its either you
throw good money on a car on a weak platform or go with something that will provide a good strong platform for future mods at reasonable cost. Still the celica rules over the MR2
looks wise.If the MR2 happens your still welcome around here...... wink.gif

You do know that the NA MR2 has the 5S-FE engine in it. I love that gen of MR2s but the NA verison isn't that fast. I would love to find a turbo verison though. Good luck, hope you can get a loan to pay off both cars and the credit card.

go for it, having a car to drive whil u swap in a 3sgte in the celica would be a good idea and 2nd gen mr2's are great, the na version may just have the 5sfe but it is still rwd and a fun little car(that sounds really good) and im pretty sure it will be on par with if not faster than a tiburon v6

3500??

dude by a cheap old beater for like 1000 or so. Then use the rest of the money to do the swap.
that's what i would do. I do know a guy in town that has a 95 MR2. He wants like 2500 for it. Its the turbo version. Already drove it once. I am seriously looking into that. Extremely fast. And RWD. Please.

I don't know what it's like where you live, but here MR2s are hard to come by. Not to mention, go to xcars.com(an all MR2 sale board) and tell me 3500 isn't a good deal. Heck, search the internet classifieds. All I'd get for 1k would be something that's ready to die, unless I truly luck out.
And I'm not trying to use any money to do the swap yet. I am first concentrating on having 2 decent cars, then I'll be buying a house. If I win the lotto, then I'll do the swap this year, but other than that, it will be a couple years anyways.

And to the haters of the 5S MR2, it's got the Celica GT engine, less weight, mid engine, and RWD. Sure it won't be a racecar without an engine swap, but it will be much faster than the Celica.

Once again forgot to mention. the Hyundai has 180, the MR2 has 135. I have no problem keeping up with the Tiburon now, I don't know if they are geared funny or what, but they aren't fast.

MR2 - Drag car. right? ^^

How many of these were produced? They're like...hardly anywhere! Anyways, it's not a bad decision.

6th gen celica, 92 MR2, i wonder what's your last favorite car is...perhaps a new supra?

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the 5s-fe engine, I was just making sure you knew. One of the reasons that the Tiburon isn't as fast as it should be is because the V6 that they used was original a truck engine. So it has good low end power but no top end, there's really no reason to go to the red line in the Tiburon. Hope this helps.

Yeah, Hyundai V6s are pretty pathetic. 6 cylinders and only 180-190 HP??

But, if you're going to get an MKII MR2, why not do the 3sgte swap in that? It'll be much harder because of where the engine will have to be, but wouldn't it be a much more powerful car than the fwd celica?

1st question, HELL NO. I'm thinking SCCA Solo car. And one I could take to the Dragons Tail.

2nd question, EXACTLY. Sure there are better cars out there, but these are the 3 in my price range(well, thanks to that movie my Supra will have to wait) that I love.

Forgot to reply to this earlier. If I do get the car(find out in less than 12hrs) then it will become the money hog, although I will not forget the Celica. I might just go 4AGZE in the Celica and 3rd gen 3SGTE in the MR2.

And it shouldn't be harder at all, it should be easier(from the custom work standpoint). I know the Turbo version is different in many ways, but the MR2 was made to accept the 3SGTE, where the Celica ST needs custom mounts and such.

Oh well, I'll stop working myself up because I don't have it in my driveway yet and the more I talk about it the more I want it.

Well, MY BANK SUCKS $%&$&$!!!!

They decided that my car(95 ST with 185k) is only worth 3200. 1800 shy of where I need to be. It's ok though.

The way I felt about getting this car has made the decision about what I'm getting when I pay the Celica off in 4 months. Not to mention how at home the interior felt and the nice way it drifted(I got to 'borrow' it for an hour to go to the bank with).
