QUOTE(Kwanza26 @ May 22, 2005 - 8:57 AM) QUOTE(playr158 @ May 22, 2005 - 5:18 AM) i said exactly that just wat you call a backing plate i call a dust cover and you don't have to have a dust cover either as in "whole assembly" i was refering to wat i stated "caliper, mounting bracket, pads, rotor" those are the necessities of changing st-gt so i DO know what i'm talking about stfu No no no... you STFU. You really have ZERO clue what you're talking about. You can't even differentiate what a dust cover and backing plate is. First you say the backing plate is part of the e-brake, then you say the fronts don't have them, now you're saying you refer to them as dust covers AFTER I tell you they have nothing to do with the e-brake system? That's all a backing plate does... is to cover the rotor. Woopie... Don't try to sound like a smart ass calling things all sorts of crazy names. As for "whole assembly"... whole assembly is the spindle/knuckle, hub, calipers, rotors, basically everything minus the suspension arms and strut. AGAIN, more proof you just don't know jack sh!t. You continually speak out of turn and pass off completely WRONG information. You are the one who really needs to just Shut the f*ck up. QUOTE(Ve1Ls1dEvolutioN) as far my situation i have no other choice but to upgrade my front ST to GT disc...i bought cross drilled and slotted rotors about 2 years ago and just gettin' a chance to put them now...not knowing i have to change the whole backplate, spindle, hub, calipers and everything... You don't need to change any of that for the fronts... you only need calipers. For the rears, you'll need the entire assembly. QUOTE backing plates on the front from a GT and an ST have two different part numbers...therefore 2 different size...backing plate for an ST is a little smaller than the GT...when i tried inserting just the rotors it would not spin and clear the backing plate Like I said, they're more or less dust covers. You can remove them completely (fronts only), or just bend them back to clear the rotor. No big deal. They're usually removed when big brake kits and such are installed. lmao i died laughing.... yeah kwanza deff knows what hes talkin about...after all i did buy rear desc conversion off him. |

Um, not to continue the argument, but doesn't the e-brake cable mount to the backing plate/dust cover/whatever? I know mine did when I made the switch.

QUOTE(Syzygy @ Jun 3, 2005 - 2:06 PM) Um, not to continue the argument, but doesn't the e-brake cable mount to the backing plate/dust cover/whatever? I know mine did when I made the switch. Because the rears use an internal drum for the e-brake. If the rears used a mechanical caliper for the e-brake, then there's nothing attached. -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"

2 bolts on the top for the strut
3 bolts for the control arm 1 bolt for the axel and then you should be able to pull it right out if i'm not mistaken |

QUOTE(playr158 @ May 13, 2005 - 10:37 AM) is there a difference between GT and ST front spindle and hub?? you can't swap between gt front and rear you keep the ST front and swap ST REAR DRUMS to GT REAR DISK you have to keep front st rotors or bump it up to 7th gen has anyone ACTUALLY done the 7th gen rotor swap yet? and will you need 7th gen calipers? i dont think anyone here has actually done it...if it does work this means u can buy big brake kit for the front sense there are millions for the 7th gen |

the 7th gen swap is swapping calipers too
yes evilspeed has done the swap and says it works and yes that does mean a big brake kit for a 7th gen front will work on the front as well |
