When doing my 5sfte project which one can/should i get? honestly i dont think that thing is worth it economy cars run pretty easy timing. i would rather run a little richer and have the same timing, then paying all that money for the BTM, new or old version, just to have it retard timing so much and esentially kill power. when i dynoed my WRX, adding 1 degree of timing sometimes added as much as 5hp. that BTM retards it 1-3 degrees per pound of boost. if you want timing control, get a Emanage setup.you can make your own harnesses for it, i think instructions were posted on this forum. it will do fuel and timing, and then u can get the E-01 boost controller and tune it all from that screen and have good boost control cost of an SAFC and BTM gets close to a used emanage setup. me on the otherhand, i would run a Megasquirt stand alone, ~$500 for everything. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

97 you are TOTALLY worng about that when it come to celicas. the timing maps are already agressive in N/A form. when you start messing with fuel too, the BTM is basicly a MUST have.
you should really know more about it before you post, the WRX and celica are NOTHING alike...lol AT ALL the btm is adjustable from 0 to 3 degrees of retard, and only does so at a point that YOU set. urban, you dont need the msd6 thats a whole ignition unit. like in your post in buyin/sellin, you need JUST the BTM pt#5462 and the tach adapter pt #8910eis This post has been edited by presure2: Apr 16, 2005 - 5:58 AM -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

my 5sfte is still running and this is the only reason why.
the msd btm. i jumped on the bandwaggon early with it, i think it was what the 5sfte needed. -------------------- |

yea its adjustable. its like itchy said..it really should be a mandantory item for us.
the stock timing maps do work well...on a N/A car..add boost to the mix..and theyre not so great... -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

i thought you only need the btm if you had the 97+ celica with the OBD II ecu. IF you had the older model, then you can just retart timing manually via distributor.
I dont think the stock timing can handle boost no matter how rich you run. |

naa, hanyo...yes you can manualy adjust the timing @ the dizzy on the 94-95, but the BTM will do a much better job as it only retards the timing when you are IN BOOST, like that you retain MUCH better off boost drivability.
