Hey guys, I have been comprising a list of necessary parts and estimates on the prices for a turbo set up. I was interested in Niks but it has sold already.

Please only post if you know what youre talking about turbo wise - for those of you who have done the setup like Nik - please tell me if there is anything I am missing.

PS
If I have a question mark, it means I dont know what it is/or where to get it.

7AFE Turbo Set Up

T3 turbo $500-$900
Custom down pipe ?
Jgs tools manifold $265
Turboxs MBC $50-$80
Short ram intake and filter Have
Vortech 12:1 FMU with fuel lines $40
Walbro 255lph supra fuel pump $100
Jgs tools oil feed line kit $55
Jgs oil return/drain line $40
Pre tapped and fitted oil pan ?
GReddy universal IC piping kit $250
FMIC $200
GReddy BOV $200
Air lines ?
Check valves for the MAP ?
SAFC2 or PROFEC E-01 $240 or $650

Triple gauge pod
Oil Pressure Gauge
Boost Gauge
Voltmeter Gauge

I dont know what Check Valves are for the MAP (as you can tell I am not a mechanic at ALL, which is why I am getting help for the necessary parts), for airlines what size and how much will I need, oil pan I just tap myself right?

I also wanted to add, what is the best T3 turbo to go with? There are so many with different specs and stuff and I get lost REAL quick. Though I know not to get anything from SSAUTOCHROME!

garrett t3 with a AR .48 and trim 50 is your best bet
custom down pipe mandrel bent looking about 200-300 with O2 bun
air lines are cheap but fuel lines are kinda spendy
the check valve i can tell you how to make maybe $5-$10 in parts
oil i would pull off your stock one then i'll send you a pic where to drill your hole

the last one go with a SAFC2 cheap and you wouldnt be boosting like i was are going more for 6 psi?

I am actually aiming to boost about what you were at stock internals, like 9 PSI right?

And what exactly is a check valve?

Many of the parts can be purchased from Ebay brand new...I am currently colecting parts for my 7AFTE... I am using a CT26 turbo off of a MKIII supra...They ran at 7.5 psi from the factory, so no need for a MBC... I am using the intercooler off of the same supra.. from ebay I bought an OBX racing 12:1 fmu ($90), a walbro 255lph fuel pump ($92), and a Blitz DATT turbo timer/ boost guage ($120) all brand new in boxes with instructions. My suggestion is shop around find the best price..I will be getting a BOV from Ebay (this I may get used because I want a Blitz) I also suggest learning to weld, or finding a friend who can... Exhaust shops wi charge you an arm and a leg for relatively easy fork. I will be making the IC piping (2 in.) a downpipe, and a 3 in.turbo back exhaust for next to nothing...You WILL save a bundle if you can get a hook-up on fabrication of the plumbing...Good luck with the 7AFTE

Fortunately my uncle is a welder so he MIGHT be able to make the downpipe for me...

And is there any way to fit an intercooler with the invader bumper, I see you took your safety bar off Nik but that would be a nightmare if ever there were an accident...

What is better, an internal or external wastegate, and what is its purpose?

I found a site selling turbos here: http://store.yahoo.com/cheapturbo/gart3to448ar.html

Is that a good price for a new garrett without wastegate?

And is a 360 trust bearing worth the money?

What if you just bought the kits they sell for the 7afe engine and upgraded the turbo would you be able to get the same boost and power from building a custom kit.

If you buy the corrola kit, there WILL be fitment problems and the downpipe I dont think would work, though it might. The thing is, you can get a turbo system thats so much better for the same price, last time I checked it was around 2600 for the kit!

I am a noob myself to this, dont know mechanical worth ****, but there are plenty of great guys on this site to help and answer questions.

Well, i will say the thing i was thinking long time now.... Get the Civic B16 turbo kit, they run from 800 - 1400$ including IC and etc... As long as B16 mani fits 4AG head, with some work it might fit the 7A head as well, you will have the main parts you need, Turbo, external wastegate, some piping parts and all the oil lines, basicly all the main parts, then rework everything you need, and wuala.. It will requer custom work for sure, but i think this would be worth the money.

Isnt the downpipe when you putting together your own kit have to be custom anyways so it would be the same and what would be the difference from the t25 turbo that comes with the kit and the t3?

The corolla kits are made for that car specifically and they do come with a downpipe that will fit up to a corrolla.

As for the difference in turbo, I am not sure what the difference is, I am a compelte noob to mechanical stuff. Which is why I am continuing with this post. I am trying to figure out everything I need for a good setup, while providing usefull info to other 7afe-ers outs there that cant do a swap and need another alternative.

Any info on turbo setups is completely welcome, I wanna make sure I go into this thing with the most knowledge I can.
