I got a dual 2ohm 10" Alpine type S (900watts peak), with a 800(peak) watt kenwood amp (Last years model). It recently smoked the sub at normal playing levels. The gains were set minimally as was frequency with the bass boost on (12db). The guys at the shop i bought everything at didnt know what could of caused it (Everything was properly adjusted and installed), any ideas?

Peak power means nothing, and just because the gains were set "minimally" doesnt mean they were set right. You fried the voice coil, so it was either clipping, overpowered, or like digndoug said, you just got a faulty sub. If you bought it from a shop and had them install it, ask for a new one and ask them to make sure the gain is set right, as well as having a correct load on the amplifier. Also, i would probably have the bass boost turned off.

I kept blowing my alpine amp and sending it back for warranty. My problem was the heat. I couldn't get cool air in my trunk, and during the summer it was probably 150 degrees in there. I switched to fosgate, and that solved the problem.
