What are your opinions about drilling for oil in the Alaskain Wildlife Refuge? I don't know a lot about what it will actually do for us. I heard something crazy like thousands of barrells of oil a day. Personally, I find it outrageous that they would even consider it. I would much rather pay my extra 20 cents per gallon than see us drilling in a refuge. True, it will make us not dependant on international oil, but so what. That refuge is there to protect the wildlife and environment. It doesn't give people the right to drill for oil because they're mad about rising gas prices. That's just my personal opinion. I just want to know what you think about it.

I think we have more than enough technology to fully convert to an alternative fuel source... unfortunately, oil is BIG BIG buisness...

if gas prices were to drop that low again, there wouldn't be a push for new car developments. More cars will be driving, more gas being bought and hybrids will be pushed aside again. Maybe what I'm saying is a little drastic, but by reducing gas prices so greatly there is no incentive for gas efficiency. The higher gas prices help push the sales and production of new technologies and hybrid vehicles.

the only reason that oil hasnt been pumped out is that its being kept as a reserve
what if 20 years down the road, oil wells start to dry up? or OPEC gets pissed off and puts an emargo on the US? well, we have that oil up there. i think instead of paying taxes at the pump, that it should be based on the vehicle, SUV's and trucks use up the most gas, they should have a yearly gas guzzler tax instead of one time at new purchase of the SUV/truck that would drop gas prices 20 cents, and all of the US should adopt the same gas everywhere, to help keep the price the same all across the country, its stupid that CA has the crappiest gas with nearly the highest prices. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

What about the drilling in Texas or Louisiana, we have only used 1/3rd of the oil in those reserves. Drilling there will not make a difference since it is still cheaper to buy oil from the middle east than to hire people here to drill. Think about it on a business level, if the US pays our drillers $10 per hour to drill, over there they will pay $5 per hour to drill. The only problem I have is there is no crisis, Bush owns half of the middle east and half the oil there, but he's making money off our ignorance and backs. I was a Marine and when I found out what was really going on I kicked myself, those troops aren't fighting for anyones freedom, they're guarding oil fields and pipelines.I feel bad for my friends who are still there because it's meaningless. I wasn't making $425 every two weeks to make that a** another million.

I don't know much about this, but it seems to me that the raised oil prices have created a perfect opportunity to begin drilling in Alaska. who will get the contracts for this drilling and make money off it .. Pres. Bush's friends of course
and DJMC. unfortunately I think a lot of american's hold your viewpoint. they don't understand that there could be other factors outside of more oil = lower prices at the pump |

I've watched the movie and unlike Bush, Moore actually shows the facts to back it up. Also Bush has already proven he owns the news, hiring actors to be reporters saying his BS administration did a good job. Clinton gets a little oral and they try to impeach him, Bush has proven he's genocidal, a liar, and a thief but nobody tries to touch him. He said after the first election that this country would be better if it was under tyrannical rule and he's on the fast track to making it that way. Bush has this world by the b***s and we can't do anything about it. http://www.votetoimpeach.org/

I don't think drilling will produce a significant decrease in gas prices. First of all it'll take a lot of time to install all of the pipes and bargs to even begin drilling. Second, it's going to cost millions to erect these structures. The oil companies certainly aren't going to pay for this cost. It will be filtered back to everyone buying gas. It may be years before we see oil come out of that place. And as it was said, labor for this will probably run significantly higher than overseas. If everyone is so intent on getting out of the middle east oil trade, they need to find a new spot, and not a wildlife refuge. Russia is filled with oil. There is more oil over there now than perhaps anywhere else in the world. Sure, a lot of things are being destroyed nowadays, but at some point we need to make a stand and defend against destroying a piece of our own nation. Americans want a quick fix for rising gas prices and it simply will not happen, whether we drill or not. I'm not a politically or enviromentally active person by any means, but this proposal fumes me everytime I read it.

Antartica is the largest oil reserve in the world, the only problem is the danger in drilling there.

From research that I have seen, the oil won't be distributed to us for another 10 - 15 years, and the way that we consume oil, its supposed to last a total of 6 months at that. I disagree with drilling there.

It's like prolonging a problem with another problem.
