I am going to be installing an AEM with wideband and need an extra space for a 52mm guage. I am somewhat fanatical about maintaining a clean look. My idea is to mount a simple 2 guage pod on the right side of my dash next to my existing cluster. Here is a picture of my existing dash:

The pod would be mounted on the side of the middle dash unit. Here is the pod I am thinking about. I plan to use a belt sander to angle the part that will contact the car a little bit so the guage angles just slightly toward the driver. It would be mounted sideways right next to the oil pressure guage:

Also, what other guage should I buy to fill the other hole? I am thinking either oil temperature, water temperature or air intake temperature.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

seems like that would be a rather obtrusive place to put the gauges. why not mount them on the top/side of the steering wheel?

like this maybe

Unfortunately, there's not really a good place for a fourth guage. On the steering wheel side, I am sure I would hit it with my knee. I was thinking of maybe doing them on top like this:

The only problem is that the 6gc dash is not even like the picture.

could u take a picutre of ur dash, maybe I or someone else could photochop the gauges up top. I don't know what's available, but have you thought about mounting a gauge on each bottom corner of ur instrument panel? I know for hondas they sell the shroud things that allow you to put one on each side if u know what i mean

why dont you just buy a lotek 3 gauge pillar, or a supra 2 gauge one. i have the lotek in my car now and it looks nice and clean.

i still have my 2 gauge supra one if you want to buy it.

btw, whats wrong with your oil gauge?

I am not a fan of the pillar pods - especially for convertibles. Oil guage is operational. When you say "what's wrong" are you referring to the position of the needle or the dent in the rim? The car is off in that picture and the guage climbs to appropriate levels when the car is running. I still think the guage is a POS though. The dent is there from the install.

i guess i should have asked, whats wrong with your boost and egt gauge?lol in the pic, the boost gauge reads vac, egt reads temp. those gauge should be at 0 with the car off.

you are right tho, autometer is crap. im wishing i went with greddy or vdo for my gauges.

I am happy with the boost guage - its an electrical guage and has been very dependable and (presumably accurate). The EGT guage is working great too. I don't know about what it should read when its off as I have nothing to compare it to. The oil pressure guage I have no confidence in. Sometimes it reads 0 when I am coasting - then goes up to about 40 when I step on the gas. I know pressure increases with load but it should never read 0. Low pressure is what you look out for and, quite frankly, my guage makes it nearly impossible for me to use it for that purpose. I might go to a mechanical oil pressure guage. I wish I had bought Greddy too.

I think the gauges on top of the steering column look so sick. We need to find someone to make fibreglass steering column covers with gauge pods built in and get them covered with c/f

my boost gauge is mechanical, and goes back to 0 when i turn the car off. im guessing that autometer electric gauges should work the same way, but im not sure.

i had issues with my oil gauge too, but managed to fix it. check you oil sender. that sender unit needs to be grounded well. if you used tephlon tape on the threads, then it may not be grounding right. also, check the electrical connections on the back of the gauge. they may be touching and shorting out causing false readings. then check and make sure that when u put the key in the on possition, the needle on the gauge moves up to 0.
