HI guys......so here is the problem, I have a 97 GT convertible the clutch was going when I bought it so I bought a Centerforce Stage 1 clutch for it. I had it put in about 2-3 months ago. At first I thought ok, it needs time to break in. Well...... I still Can't feel the damn thing. Feels like it goes straight to the floor and back up....thats it. I cant even feel the release point in it ( even tried that with no shoes...nothing) SOOOO.....Is this me because i am so used to driving a cable clutch and just need to get used to it or with it being a Stage 1 should I be able to feel it and something is wrong with the clutch??? Please help!!

Im thinking a couple things. Did you properly break it in? Meaning were you agressive at all the first couple thousand miles? That could improperly break in the clutch.

Second, you cant physically feel the engage or release point in the pedal, you can only "feel" it by it disengage the tranny so your either moving or not moving.

The straight to the floor and back up, thats what its supposed to do, I'm kinda confused by this one. Is it too easy to push in? Does it feel sloppy or slushy? You could need the line bled because theres air in it.

Centerforce said break in period was 500 miles but i did baby it for about 1500. The clutch pedal is way to easy, to me anyway. I guess I just thought I should be able to feel the clutch seeing that I did put a stage 1 in it. This is my first car with power anything...... maybe its just me.........I grew up driving old school VW"s and Mustangs where you can FEEL the clutch. I'm just not happy with the way it feels, I even had one of my girlfriends drive it and she said it didnt feel right to her either. The clutch was installed at a shop (my moms boyfriend did it....he is a license mechanic and did everything). Could have done it myself but I owe to much $$ to mess up something.

It doesnt feel sloppy or slushy, just feels like nothings there. No resistance what so ever.......

Does it feel like your old clutch? Stage 1 should feel stock.

Sounds like you are just used to a heavier clutch pedal feel. Stage 1 probably is about like stock and stock clutches are usually pretty soft in these cars. I dont know what kinda clutch the previous owner put in my ST but its stiff as crap for a 110hp car. My leg hurts after getting stuck in traffic for awhile. MY g/f's GT clutch is very soft though. Her original toyota clutch was alittle stiffer than her new exedy stock replacement also.

ok, so if it is just me would I get more of a feel out of a stage 2? Would it be safe for me to go to a stage 2 without having any mods yet? I have been told that I could put a 2 in it if I wanted to loose my tranny........ I'm just really unhappy with it and its making me really unhappy with the car........any suggestions before I go trade this thing in on a new vw??(at least I could get parts and performance without looking to the deepest dark part of nowhere) LOL
