Hurting animals is wrong! it pisses me fu***ng off. Last year some guy duct taped a puppy to the road. If I would have caught him doing that, he would be buried in the desert! My dog chicken-butt came from an abused home. After i saw him on tv(they ran a story), I knew I had to have him. 2 weeks later....he was mine.

well from what i read, its a group of poor fisherman who in the off-fishing season kill the seals to support there economy. And those cute white ones there not allowed to kill. Everything else though is open game during the season. The canadian gov feels that the fisherman need this for there well being.

I toally agree with you there, ytf do people have to hurt animals who cant defend themselves? People like that should be thrown into a cage of really hungry lions with a steak straped to their ass.

Yeah i got my dog from a shelter. Apparently they thought he was pure Rotti and he wasnt, and they thought he might get too big... needless to say hes 110 pounds now and does whatever he wants. lol.

Yeah I watched a bunch of PETA videos this week, while I dont like PETA but some of the stuff was just cruel. Like putting oven cleaner in a bunnies eye for testing, I mean WTF do you think is gonna happen!

the candian government is trying to increase the fish population, and thus boost the fishing economy, by decreasing the rapid growth of their main predetor, the seal.

Gross over fishing due to commercial fishing along with the ever growing seal population leads to less and less fish. So since they dont want to decrease fishing, they decrease the seal population. 1 million in 3 years is the max quota, though it is doubtful they will enforce that. And since full grown adult seals can be vicous, they go after the baby ones since they are docile and easy to kill.

we just read a thing on this in school too, I guess the fur trade is good with the seal's skins and furs, so they club them rather than shoot them because it leaves the furs in good condition (no bullet holes, etc etc.) the fisherman are SUPPOSED to be taught how to club them that one hit = a fast painless death but it doesn't really work out that way. plus it decreases the amount of seals eating their fish, so the fish economy thrives also.

It's not like they're just out clubbing seals for the hell of it. that's cruel. honestly I see this being not much different than slaughtering cattle or chickens, etc etc. Except nobody tends to complain as much about that

it's just what is socially exceptible.... we've been clubbing and killing cows, pigs, chickens for ever since we've made them farm animals (on a regular basis) now... bashing a seal thats cute and we've never ever think about diliberately hurting them is another thing .

Theres always two sides to a story, As far as I know people who depend on some animal for their livelyhood are the most respectful. I guess poachers are different of course.
