Ok, I know with the 3s-gte everything has been coverd, but i dont think this has.

My question is, Are you glad you went through with it, spending the money the time the head ach and such. Compared to buying a stock car with more power and going from there or somthing else.

if you really love you car and just want it to have more power, do the swap! you basically gain 100whp more then what u have, and have a motor that has a lot of upgradde mod options.

the only bad thing is that you will be poping your hood more often the you ever had to with a stock car. turbo cars just need more love and care. especially cars that are running a swaped motor.

thats the think that has really held me back on turbo-ing my car, (a swap is just to much work) I really dont have the time to do it, and then re-do it as needed to keep it running, I cant miss a day at work its to important that I be there every day on time and ready to work. wile I do plan on doing a turbo its not gana be for a wile, witch is what you have to really think about, is it worth the extra time over the langth you own the car to up keep it so it runs. with a swap you gata do a lot of upkeep. and is it worth the extra 100 hp, if you not gana race it.

alright now that i feel like i just joined asking repetitive questions.

but i also just searched and nothign came up.

My concern would be that of creis's. I dont want somthign unreliable, but I dont mind, i love workign on cars. I wouldnt mind if it were simple stuff liek just more tune ups or such like that. But i dont want to be driving then it to just cut out on me.

The reason im thinking of doing the swap compaerd to buying a 10-12k car, is that I want a Nice newer car, Like a 330i or m3 or newer is300, but dont wanna get stuck in payments paying for a 20-30k car. So droping a few thousand into mine, to make me happy for awhile seems like it will be worth it.

Also the reason im thining of it, cause thats really the only thing i dont like about my car, The style has grown more and more sence the day i bought it. I love how it feels and drives, handles. Also I LOVE this site, the biggist reason for staying.

Here's my feeling on the swap, i am seriously considering the swap these days. I'm young and i want a faster car then the celi, but also i see that if i get anything in speed range i want not only will i be paying payments but also my insurence which is hi already will double. and the biggest thing for money i wanna spend i have two choices either ugly car thats fast, or slow car thats nice. swapped celi seems like its best of both worlds.

If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't. The main reason is all the unexpected problems I have run into. That said, most issues have now been resolved and I have committed myself to building her some more and making this car one mean SOB biggrin.gif

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

I personally think the swapping process alone (assuming you're gonna DIY), the learning process, is well worth the investment. You not only come out with a faster car in the end, but you gain more experience, more hands-on knowledge, more insight, and that's really the most important aspect of working with cars. Building something you can be proud of...

In all honesty, if speed is all you want, there are cheaper ways to get there. Only do a swap if you're willing to dedicate yourself to it.

i agree also.

For the most part if you do it right, you won't run into too many problems, provided the engine was in good shape when u put it in. But you will run into some problems w/ installation, whether it be parts or something else. You have to plan for this. But if you're willing to dedicate ur time and money to it, then go for it. You will be glad you did it when you start it up and drive it for the first time, provided it starts tongue.gif

but if u do, let me know, i wouldn't mind coming and giving a hand if needed smile.gif

ill be opening up a can of worms this summer when i do my swap and manual conversion. but i think its definitely worth it if you love your car and want to have it around for a long time. even with the swap, conversion and everything else ive done to the car it still comes out less than 15k.
