i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

the pipe size is not the main noise thing, just put a quite muffler on the end and he'll be fine.

side note: I love the salaras, there hot with duel pipes out the back, I would put a set of borla's on there, with 2.5 inch pipes there not that loud but they sound really good.

I wouldn't even bother with 2.5, I would stick with 2 and to keep it quiet creis said it best the pipe doesn't make the difference it's the muffler. Headers can make a difference in sound also.

well it depends what does he want, he cant just "want" a duel exhaust does he want the gains from it or the looks. if he wants more hp but keep it a sleeper then go for 2.5 with a set of quite mufflers. but yeah the header plays a big role, if you keep the stock headers you dont have to much to worry about, they will help restrict the flow, however if you put a set of nice headers and quite mufflers its gana get deep.

also is he getting a full duel exhaust or just duel pipes out of the facroty header (so it goes from 2 to 1 to 2) if its a full kit, and the 2 sides never meet then go with the smaller pipe because your only pushing out 3 chambers of smoke each, not 6.
