well i got the new setup dynoed. i mean its only a 10hp drop from last time BUT its a 30lbtq gain.
180hp 222tq. with HORRIBLE tuning. the safc can only do so much the stock ecu sucks ass. the dyno guys told me to invest into stand alone and expect big numbers. they said mechanicly the car has potention. ps im on stock fuel pump and 7mge injectors looks liek thats all u need since u can tell im A$$ rich in the high end and lean in the begging. like i said it doesnt wanna listen to the safc. boo. so now looks like ill add stand alone. crap jsut noticed u could see the a/f numbers. well the red line is 12 and the bottom is 10.1 what is that at the crank? like 200hp and 245tq? old dyno chart. 187hp 195tq oh yeah old turbo dyno =13psi this new one =10 maybe thats the difference right there? hey im not mad anymore. But still wanna do stand alone. suggestions? PLEASE lol. i know ur out there nik, pressure2, lagos, Dr tweaks lol. and anyone else lol. just for reference this is what a stock 3sgte swap put down at celicatech.com This post has been edited by x_itchy_b_x: May 10, 2005 - 10:44 PM -------------------- |

we got megasquirt'n'spark extra running on my friends Z
even though it has maps on there that have nothing to do with his setup, it runs great! we cant tune it yet because the new 12x12 maps jam up the usb to serial converter we have but we were able to tell the MS the size of the injectors and the target AFR, thats probably why its running pretty well. its very easy to install and tune, imo, we got the car wired and running from friday to monday. it was a lot of work, but man did i get a great feeling when she started right up and idled better than ever before with the stock EMS -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

Looks like you have some real masters tuning this thing
First of all, can you get us a pic of the dyno with the a/f numbers? At any rate, it's obviously too lean down low and way rich up top. It's rich to the point that I'm suprised it can even run. It's possible you're maxing out your AFM. Were you logging the AFM info as well? It drops right off before 4500 rpm... look at how the power just dives. Which MAF are you using? You should bring this baby up to my shop and I can get it running much better, or at least locate the problem. -Doc This post has been edited by raven_101: May 10, 2005 - 11:12 PM -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |

I'm in Newport, VT.
Okay well if you can datalog with your SAFC, then get a line on what the MAF meter (AFM) is doing. What turbo are you running, how much boost, and which ECU? -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |

he doesnt have an AFM
5sfe ECU's are MAP based as long as he is not boosting more than the 3sgte 2 bar can handle, he isnt maxing anything out. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

Oh yeah I was thinking 3SGTE....
Well come on up and I'll at least check it out and see where it's gone wrong. I'm pretty busy with all these swaps and stuff, but come on up on a Thursday or something if you can. I'll charge you $10 an hour if you put my decals on your car Just make sure that you have an 02 bung for me to install the Wideband in, and what are you using the control the S-AFC? Laptop or the little controller screen they have? Email me and we'll set things up: drtweak@phoenixtuning.com And get some better shots of those dyno sheets if possible. -Dr Tweak This post has been edited by raven_101: May 11, 2005 - 3:37 AM -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |

john, looks like your REALLY lean to me...your a/f should be around 12.5/1
looks like your above that up till 4500...ecu prolly pulled mad timing on you at that point, and went 100% to make sure you didnt pop. you need to get more fuel in there under 4500 rpm, or your gonna pop that thing real quick. came to the conclusion that when u ADD fuel on the safc it Retards timing.
it Retareded it to the point that at 3.4k if back fires all over the place (ignition with the exhaust valves open, basicly) and that was with NO correction from the BTM i wasnt using it to retard anyhting. and my timing was going wicked retarded. when i added more retardation with the BTM it was even worse. i add fuel to the point where i wont back fire but i still dont think its sufficiant. and it only happens at 3.4k right about once im past that im fine cause then it still goes crazy rich even with the safc not correcting anyhting. like ive seriously tried every tuning way to do this. i was thinking. what if i got like 550cc injectors and instead of adding fuel down low with the safc i took it away since 550cc would def have enough fuel to make me run rich. right? still leaning toward standalone get rid of these bandaids on a headwound. and get it stiched up right. -------------------- |

Dont solve ur problems by adding bigger injectors, if you have a lot of electronics they're going to end up fighting eachother.
Get a standalone u'll have complete tuning ability and you can probably get 20hp outta it with proper tuning. -------------------- |

yea, john, a full standalone would definetly be your best bet. maybe 440's would do the trick for ya. i know even in my N/A dyno chart its on the lean side around the same rpms as you, just not quite AS lean..lol..i guess the best way to see what the safc is doing with timing is to get in there with a timing light and check it while your on the dyno without a standalone anyway..
ever think of trying somthing like the SMT-6 or emanage that allow you to control both fuel and timing in one unit? ive talked to a guy who distributes the smt unit, and it seems pretty sweet, kinda an in between standalone in that you tune it via laptop, but it works on the same basic principal as the SAFC, but with much better control, and timing control as well. www.perfectpower.com im thinking about trying it once i get up and running (should be real soon, trying for install june 3-5) we'll see what happens, we'll have to compare notes! -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

i was talkin to guys at RCT. perforamce and they say that if i buy the universal AEM unit. install it myself wireing wise.. then tow the car to them they can tune it, dyno ect. starting at $400. hes a nice guy and owns a 500hp 3sgte mr2. so they wanna help me out basicly. he said that if i got a FPR like a 1.1 that it would richen me up in the lowerend alot and u could pull out fuel by the safc in the higher bands... iunno. stupid motors im gunna carberate it. j/p
