Hey
I have put a breather on the celica when I bought my intake I put it on the valve cover where it runs to the throttle body. I was told by a few friends that it is illegal even if it is doing the same thing as a hose. Supposedly it is a 150 dollar fine. Can anybody straighten me out? I was think of just asking a cop I know. |

last time i checked, cops dont look under your hood like that... breathers have no reason to be illegal either

you can get a fine for "improper equipment"
because its not OEM spec/CARB certified thats how you can get a ticket and unless you get caught racing they normally don't check under the hood and such but you won't pass emissions with a breather cause it will cause you to fail the PCV part or sumthing well at least mine did but i still have my breather on it does 0 for ya though it just looks pretty |

cause it just vents crankcase gases back into the intake manifold
and to be reburned off when you vent it into the atomosphere you allow a larger percentage of better air into the intake manifold as apposed to crappy crankcase air lol |

yeah, but they pvc system is designed to be there for a reason. there is a certain amount of Vac that the motor has to maintain to run right. when you vent, you loose that vac and the pvc system isint doing its job like it was designed to.
running that line vented dosnt give you any benefit for performance. you will not gain 1hp from it. most people do it on turbo cars, cause they are to cheap to buy a basic catch can and would rather have oil pilling onto their tranny then in the intake. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

im not replacing the valve it is just a tube that runs to your throttle body. You know the one right at the top right of the cover.
