Scion tC doesn't stand for (or is intended to mean) Toyota Celica. I read in Road and Track that Scion wanted to name the new car xC (continuing the xA, xB tradition) but Volvo had already copyrighted it with the XC90. Instead, they named it tC, which stands for touring coupe. It is, however, taking the place of the Celica in the Scion lineup.
