your 98 BEAMS should already have VVT-i. So if that 99 is also an SS-II, then it has basically the same BEAMS as your car. So you are basically just swaping for the kit then??

Keep the sixth gen. if you can find dynos on the two engines you would realize how much better the red top beams is. This post has been edited by GeEkBoY: May 13, 2005 - 6:42 PM |

on looks alone keep it m8 , go look in the gen 7 section of celica club uk and see the amount of posts regarding problems , after you have done that check the gen 6 forum and compare , i think u will find that there's a lot more complaints in the Gen 7 section, the gen 7 just isnt put together as good as the gen 5 & 6

I thought the 3S-GE BEAMS VVT-i Celicas had 200 HP while the 7th gen 2zz VVTL-i had 170-odd?

NA 2zz have 180
JDM and UK have 190, I think Key here is 'usable power' which the 2zz is short of. |

QUOTE(GeEkBoY @ May 14, 2005 - 3:23 AM) NA 2zz have 180 JDM and UK have 190, I think Key here is 'usable power' which the 2zz is short of. When a car is racing... it doesn't spin at 4000 rpms... 2ZZ has plenty of useable power for performance purposes... An argument like that would say F1 cars are slow because they don't have "useable" power... It's a matter of prefrence. The 7th gen GTS (SS2) is as fast as the Beams 6th gen Celicas in track situations. The beams will be a more friendly driver car. -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"

Stick with the 6th gen, it's rare and beautiful.
