How can you remove the hand brake cover and replace it with an after market hand brake cover. There's nothing to twist off. Do I have to rip it out? Anyone changed there hand brake appearance? If so how did you do it and please show some pics.

There is no hand brake cover on the sixth gens. It's just one solid piece of rubberized plastic. I think that afternarket covers go over the existing cover, but I'm not sure on that.

Coomer I've seen other people online not on your site with different covers on and it looks very clean. If you look at your car the next time you drive you will notice that the hand brake gets wider the lower it gets. SO you can't just pop it over. I have one that fits other cars but there's no way I can fit it into my car.
Strange hand brake dam it. |

Well, maybe they cut away the plastic stuff, but that's the only way I could think of getting a cover on there. Do you have any pics of those covers? -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

yup, there will be two things that you need in order to make it work. a carpanter blade and a vice grip wrench. clamp the wrench right below the e brake botton and use the blade to upward (from the base and up towards the wrench). you can normally cut any way you want but the base the the brake has thinner rubber which makesthe start of it easier. cut up half way and twist the vice grip and much as possible, this will losen the rubber (years of grabbing the brake will make it harder to remove). after that the whole thing should slide right off. |

SilverCell94,
Did you change the hand brake cover for your car? That seems like the only way by cutting it. |
