I'm not sure were to put this topic, so I put it in general. If it belongs somewere else, I'm sorry.

My gas door won't open. The cable must have streched to the point that it's not opening it. I have the lever opening system in case that's not common. It's been getting worse, but I never took the time to fix it. I haven't looked at it real hard yet, I just figured I'd ask everyone to see if there was any idea's before I tore into it. Anyone else have this problem?

Had a problem with my cable too last year. Though my cable wasn't stretched, it was just the cables coming out of their fixings.

What I'd reccomend is to have a look at the lever-unit (This requires taking the driver seat out and the carpet to get to it). From there, you should be able to see if everything looks like it's still attatched properly.
If the problem isn't there, then it's time to do the same thing at the gas-door end.. This requires taking the boot (or if you prefer 'trunk') trim out and checking for the same thing there.

Eitherway, you'll be needing to perform at least one of the two tasks to find the fault.

hope that helps smile.gif

Yeah, that helps. I know what I have to do, I just wish it was easier. I need to just quit being so lazy and just do it.

Well, I broke off the door. I thought that if I could pull the handle up as far as it would go, then pry on the door a little bit it would open. After it opened I could file down the lach a little bit so the door would open easy. Well, as soon as I pryed a little the door just fell off. I guess the bottem ringe had already rusted off, and I just broke the top. These things are really rusted. Aside from me being a retard, this gives me the opertunity to upgrade to an after market gas door. Something I don't really care about, but what the heck. Anyone recommend any?

Don't get a real ricey one. Like a blue one with the yellow Nos logo.

Hideous.

Yeah, I'm not doing that. I found one, it's black. I'm just going to put it on. I figure black is the only color that will look okay. I can't repaint my car right now, and it's faded pretty bad, so buying a bottle of touch up and painting the new door is out of question. Wate, I just though, I might be about to use the ringes from the new door, and keep my old teal one. That would be best.
