My car is a 5 speed. I seem to lose some momentum everytime i am racing and i shift into 3rd? Its happened a lot with integras and some SI's. Is there some thing i can do to keep that speed? Besides nitrous?

keep your rpms up

or get a turbo

how many times have you all refilled your nitrous bottle?

how much did that cost you over time?

could you do the swap with it?

i think so

I believe what he's trying to say is, Our cars (US Spec mind you) don't pull as well in 3rd gear as Integras and Civics. Oddly enough, I agree.

As far as costs of filling nitrious bottles go, it's about 40 bucks a full bottle here, good for a LOT of runs. It's a lot cheaper than a turbo system, guranteed, and doesn't come with the endless complications a turbo can yeild over time. I'll also say, I don't spray anymore (had an unfortunate accident before). Either way, nitrious is far cheaper than a turbo and can yeild similar results as an unbuilt 5sfte or 7afte. Also note, you can't compare the two. Nitrious is mainly for the straight line drags, while turbos are pretty flexible. If all you want is a quick boost in a straight line... nitrious is cheaper, safer, and can yeild the same, if not slighty better results than a turbo on our motors.

And if you wanna know, I've hit 14's with 97-98 mph trap speeds on the tracks... spraying on an all-motor setup...an ST. ;]

Kwanza - You have any slips? 14's? Thats fast!

3rd Gear - Yeah the celica pretty much sucks in 3rd gear, lol... SI's third gear rocks tho, thats where the power is in SI.

i had a zex kit on my celica, then i got rid of it and sold it to my friend and he has it on his prelude, its soo easey to install were talkn like 30 mins, here in kansas its 3.50 a bottle so the 10lb zex bottle is 35, and it does go by fast, i ran a 55 shot, never got to installn the 65 or 75 nozzles. its not like F&F where u hit the button and WHAM!!! u can feel it but its not like screeeetchhh the tires screetch in 3rd, u can feel some sort of a kick. but just arm it after ur out of 1st, cuz the at transmission doesnt like it when u arm that sucker in 1st. hope i helped.

would I be able to retard my timing or anger by myself? or should I have a mechanic do this. would retarding the timing have any effect on the feel of the car otherwise?

It's not difficult if you have the tools, but too much retard can cause your car to misfire.

And dex, I do have slips somewhere, but I can't seem to locate them (might have been left in that car when it was sold). It was hitting low 15's that night, all night, with 93-94 mph trap speeds. I finally hit 14.9 and then 14.8 both with 97 mph trap speeds, I think. Can't really remember. Either way, with trap speeds like that, a typical car with good traction can hit mid 14's. It's mostly my traction that was bad. I'll search a bit for those slips, I'm sure I have at least a few. I'll post it if I find it.
