as for the clock...masking tape works wonders...just cover the entire clock in masking tape and make sure none of the tape is covering the trim...should work just fine.
Also, a hard lesson I had to learn...use a LOT of thin layers and let each layer dry completely before starting the next...my integra interior looked like sh*t cuz I was in too much of a hurry...good thing I wrecked the bastard and got my celica ![]() -------------------- Speeding is only Illegal...

Besides, if it does, just sand it back down to the plastic and repaint it, or get new dash inserts. Personally, I plan on redoing my inserts eventually, but not for a few years, so if / when it happens, I guess that will be convenient for me. As for the clock, it and most other pieces that fit into the inserts (such as vents, knobs, etc) are locked in by wedges of plastic that can be pushed down to remove them, or the plastic around them can be lifted up. You can use a small flat head screw driver. This post has been edited by Smlogg: May 26, 2005 - 6:11 PM |

How durable is doing this? I would like to do it but don’t want to do it now then 3 months down the road have to do it again. It sounds simple enough if you just take your time. How long has this lasted for someone who has actually done it?

There is nothing special about it, really. Ever paint models as a kid? If you use the right primer, paint, and finish, it will last a long time. |

I used used Dupli-Color Sealer Primer and Krylon for Plastics and got this:
That white thing next to the stereo isn't a chip I probably a cig ash and I know my CD player screen is broke, it ate my CD and wouldn't give it back so I punched it, j/k. Be careful when wet sanding the plastic stuf I used 600 grit and it takes the gloss out. |
