Well after a little more than a year of boosting my motor is finally seeing the effects of turbo. Stock internals boosting 11 PSI. Anyways i have an internal oil leak (piston rings and valves). This is really frustrating!! So i have 2 options now. 1.) get a short block, blueprinted balanced, port and polished, pistons,..... everything i need to boost 14lbs out of an ST block. or 2.) complete 3s-gte swap.

ive wanted a 3sgte for forever now so im leaning towards taht. the only reason y i would consider the new custom short block is because i can still drive my car while they are assembling the new block. but with the 3sgte my car would be in the shop for quite awhile....

thats pretty impressive, 11psi on stock internals. Do you have a dyno chart of how much power u were putting down? id say go w/ the rebuilt 7afe since you have a really nice turbo setup for that engine already. Plus id like to see someone get that engine built properly and boosted.

a good shop should only have your car for a week to do a swap.

I think you should stay with the setup, since you've already put a lot of time and money into it, why not just put a little more into it and have the motor rebuilt with 4agze pistons, have the rods shotpeened, and get some new rings (i think hks makes some for our cars made for boost) i think you get the idea. That would be worth more than 14 psi. Also do you have anymore pics of your setup, i'm really curious to see how you did it.

I think you should just keep the 7a fte. rebuild the motor and run at a little lower boost.

if you get the bottom end rebuilt, go all out. 4agze pistons and rings, custom rods (ARGO makes good ones), and get the crank balanced.

I have a quick question....

I'm not worried about my/your 7AFE which is boosted too (well cheap way -- NOS), cause you can always get it rebuild add some **** to it ....bla bla bla... but my worries lie on the 7AFE AUTOMATIC Tranny which we all share.... is that thing gonna last or what

in my case I only spray in high gears and top speeds 'cause I'm worried about my tranny .. you know...poping out ..

the tranny is good..... sort of.. hasnt gave up on me ever and its been over a year now since the turbo. HOwever the tranny oil is always hot and ****ed up, but that's cuz of my driving. If u had turbo wouldnt u bone out everywhere u went? Im at the street races alot too soo i ran the car hard aften. Im getting the motor swap because i want to run higher boost. Thx for all the opinions. I want to keep the ST block, but theres just not enough power and potential in it ( my goal is to have 450 hp at the wheels and an 11sec street car).

If ur squeezing at high speeds and high gears to save ur tranny, u wont be doing much to save ur motor. Ur motor cant take that much power and squeezing at high gears or on uphills will blow ur motor pretty fast. My homie blew his motor squeezing in 5th gear racing a porcshe. it was a civic SI tho =/

Im with Matt, since I dont have the money for the swap might as well stick with my 7a-FE and make it a little faster. So if you're selling the mods, potential buyer here. E-mail me dawg.
