Anyone can put together a simply turbo kit.
One of the major problems with such kits is getting the header build. All other piping can be piece together. Once you can find a shop that can do your header or turbo manifold, most probably, there can do everything for you. It is very easy. My advice to any is to try reading some car magazines for ome ideas. That is my advice. Right now, I would love to turbocharge my subaru, but my problem is the car is carb. with no fuel injection. Also the car is an 1986 model. So in my eyes, it does not worth it to some point. -------------------- West_Minist

Matthew...not same hp. The Burien kit if you read it carefully it gives you a bump of just about 50 whp. The stock GT has 130/135 hp...at he crank. Most stock GTs right now will run about 95-100 at the wheels...so it's really only putting you at about 150whp and that translates to around 180-190 hp at the crank. This supercharger kit puts you at 200whp supposively. This puts you at a better deal dollar per hp than the Burien kit. $35 per hp compared to $50 per hp with the Burien (For those that need the math: $3500/100hp = $35 per hp ::: $2500/50hp = $50 per hp)
Also, the only reason it might not work for our cars is the fitment factor. If I were in the area and wasn't planning on selling my Celica...I would go for a fitment test so we can know for sure. I'm not promotoing or burning this kit, it's just another option for someone that doesn't have all the knowledge and time to install and create their own kit. jeez.. its prolly running at around 10psi-12psi. wow, 100more hp at the wheels, thats pretty good, hey its almost equal to a 3sgte, alittle less (most likely) then a swap, i'd be a good idea if you'd want to stay at around 200whp or around 250hp at the crank

Kind of an old topic, but if it is running boost that high, you'd have to be asking for some damage.. especially with no IC. Also I'm pretty sure you'd get ok clearance with that going by the picture.

Damn, somebody please buy this kit, its a great deal. I'm pretty confident that it would run more reliably than most turbo set-ups....sure it costs more than a custom turbo, but you a get a legitimately manufactured and tested unit that is made to excellent quality standards. Everything is well-controlled by their "Black Box", which produces a carefully tuned fuel curve and spark timing, in conjunction with the Walbro fuel pump that comes with it to ensure you never go lean.
Besides, this is why Toyota puts supercharger kits on lots of their engines as dealership installed options instead of turbo....its easier on the engine and usually are instaled with just a properly tuned fuel system consisting of a higher capacity fuel pump and larger injectors. I'm sure the same goes for the 5S-FE, and it could handle this kit no problem at all. If I had the money to spend on my engine instead of repairing the body, i would be picking up this kit in Staten Island tommorrow. I think anyone considering a swap should seriously codiser this first, and im sure they wouldnt regret it. Might be something for me to consider, how much torque does it add though? I want to feel fast more than go fast. I'm leaning towards more of a show car than a speed car.
But I want a little something to get past traffic. |

Do a search on the forums, guys. There was a regular member on here last summer who went to NY to have the same kit fit on his Celica and he's never been heard from since (or maybe I just forgot his name).
