Morning guys !

ok so you can qulte for your car BHP, WHP and HP plus i've heard you guys talking about HP at the crank !

what is the true rating for the cars power Crank, Wheel or Brake HP

and What is 1 HP ??????

I think that Horse power was origionally taken as the ability of one horse to lift a certain weight off the ground (via ropes and pullies) in a certain time. other than that I havnt got a clue.

BHP = Block horse power. Otherwise known as horsepower that your engine produces.

WHP = Wheel horse power. How much of the BHP actually gets to the wheels for you to enjoy.

BHP is same as horsepower at the crank, or at the flywheel.

BHP = BRAKE Horse Power. Otherwise you've got a nice simple definition there.

Sorry. I've called it block horsepower. That way, I don't have to explain that the brake (resistance) is used to determine the power blah blah etc etc.
