You want to complain about construction?

The locals say Utah has two seasons. Winter and...

"Construction."

"Men at Work" is an oxymoron here. Can you tell I'm bitter?

I'm pissed that my st is so slow. Some girl in a civic ex was blocking both lanes and acting like an idiot in traffic, i was behind her and she wouldnt move as cars in front pulled away. i decided to go around her. then she decided to get back into the lane. I had a head start and floored it to try and get in front and back into my lane. my she just sped up and didnt let me in. i felt like such an idiot in a loud slow car. then later that night some guy in a old v6 accord did the same thing. i dont think my car has an edge in regular traffic just to pass others and maneuver. ill probably sell her sometime this year after i fix up the gt.

Is your ST not a turbo? The pic in your Profile looks like it is...

it was turbocharged and now it is not. my setup was not to swell. it prolly performed like a gt celi most of the time and then at short periods was very fast.

I have to say this again, because alot of people think the ST is slow. Well, of course it's not a GT and it's far from an SS-III, or GT-Four, but it's not slow (compared to regular other cars).

I was driving around one day and stopped to drive onto a sort of highway (one-lane only, but still.. Hey! I live in a small town in Norway, ok?) wink.gif This turbocharged Volvo is behind me. I have gotten alot of cop attention lately, so I was like.. Yeah, ok.. He will probably pass me and that's ok. I won't race him, not today.. I wait until the road is clear and drive onto the highway and start accelerating normaly. Then I see this stupid Volvo is 10 centimeters away from my ass and kinda pushing me.. Ok, that's it. He is getting served.. I push the pedal down to the floor and he follows until about 90 (this is on a medium steep uphill, keep in mind). Then he starts loosing ground and I continue up to 115 mph and he is way behind me.. I let go of the pedal and let the car continue on it's own until I drop down to legal speed (about 50!) tongue.gif

I have a stock 99 Celica (ST) 1.8 7A-FE (Euro spec). On this run I didn't even hit rev limit in fourth gear, and it was uphill. People have been saying in different posts that they can't get their cars above 115 mph because of rev-limit and speed-limit and whatnot.. I can't understand why, but I probably don't have that limit on my Euro spec. i still could have used my fourth gear all the way and gotten about 120 I guess, and then switched to fifth gear and continued.. My last car (94' Nissan Primera, yeah I know..) with it's 2.0 liter SR20De engine(swapped in a 96' engine though, not the stock 94') pushed 125 bhp and that wasn't quicker than my 1.8 liter 7A-FE with 116 bhp.. The difference in torque is probably the reason, along with the ability to get the horses down to the wheels, and to the ground.

My Celica is slow compared to any race car, or performance car. But in daily traffic I can pass anyone I want. I raced this Audi stationwagon a while ago too, and he got smoked real bad. It was a 1.8 A4 with turbo. He had 4 people in the car and I had 2. The car should smoke me bad, but I guess he was a sucky driver.

The Celica isn't ment to be a race car (the GT-Four is of course, but not the regular ST and GTs (USDM).. GT JDM on the other hand is rather quick with the 197 bhp 3S-GE engine.

I have a 5 speed manual of course.. Auto is not an option for me wink.gif

And I have a 99' ST (AT200) 7A-FE Celica. The GT on the other hand is the 3S-GE (197 bhp) and the GT-Four with 3S-GTE (255 bhp). We do have the regular ST though, with only a 116 bhp 7A-FE.

Honestly, I don't understand the complaint. I haven't had the privelage to own a 6th gen yet but I'm working on that now. I've had 4 Celicas, and they all were pretty decent. I had an 87 ST, a 92 ST, a 90 GT, and I still have my 91 All-Trac. The Trac is the fastest, but the GT held its own with a clutch weaker than Mark Prior's current pitching arm. The 87 held its own too, but G gutted that damn thing so there wasn't much weight. I'm guessing the 6th gen GT should be about even with the 5th gen, if not better. In my oppinion, the autmatic Celica is slow as dirt because you don't have full power over torque.

As far as the ST205 is concerned, bowdown.gif

lol.

Turbocharged AWD manual transmission is the effing shiznit. :-D.

My buddy ghetto rigged his 92 GT automatic with a turbo and it ran fine. Blew two motors, but the turbo was fine. lol.

If you got stop and go city traffic, I'd rather have an automatic anyways. Prolly why the GSX Eclipse auto sells pretty well. That, and people want performance but don't know how to drive stick. The "I take what I can get" line is bullhonkey. If you have something set in your head, go for it and don't settle for less. The juice is definitely worth the squeeze.

Thats my two psi on a lot of things... Point is, I don't see the complaint about not having fast cars. Its about torque, not power, to an extent. Power produces torque but torque doesn't produce power

Hey dude we hade the same Previous car. I also had a Nissan Primera before my GT. I got rid of it as soon as i saw my celi came on sale Online!. But the 2.0 engine wasnt al that bad. But because its weight and modest HP for a 16v 2.0 liter its not that fast. But i got 215 km/h with it smile.gif

You should try to drive a turbocharged 4wd Primera GT wink.gif Damn that thing was fast.. I was actually thinking of swapping my engine with a turboed GT engine, but decided to swap in a stock 96' instead and sell the car to buy a 99' Civic Coupe Si (1.6 liter DOHC VTEC with 170~bhp.. As already stated in some other thread the seller just disapeared and I never got to buy the car) Ended up with the Celi and I'm kinda happy now smile.gif The Civic would have pwned the Celi bigtime, but the Celi is sexy wink.gif

In Europe (At least in my country) The Civic/Golf/Kadett/CRX/Subaru's or to Common in the "scene"

Almost every friday i go to car meetings and everytime i am the only 6GC there. Sometimes theres a stock Silver and Red one, but they look so bad with the stock 205 wheels+Alloys, not lowered and no window tints, no skirts etc etc.

And Illyont. The Civic would have pwned your Celi, not mine, 3S-GE Power!!!!!!!

And what makes you think your speedo is anything like accurate. If it's anything like mine, 115mph is probably 105 in real life.

A ST is not a fast car. I'm sorry, but it's not. It's a very nice car, but not quick.

It is. I have seen the light, and the light is boost.
