There is no 94 ST185
I have never heard of a "ta63". Perhaps they mean ST165. If so, I would stay away. Are those clips or engine / tranny sets? Did you see the "feasable engine swaps" sticky? -------------------- QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this. |

Acutally, im a long time member of this site. Ive been reading forums and searching for over a year now, on this stuff. I jsut dont get involved in the silly arguments on here.
But my main concern is the after affects. The swap to me isnt that hard. Its how is the car gonna run after i do it. But damm, i just got my reply from RippMods, and thats sounding good. Ive been following that for almost a year now too. But now i got the money and im purchasing this weekend, if not ill blow it all on silly little stuff. |

well for one thing... ill vouch for venus-auto if u wunna get it from 'em. theyre really reliable and easy to talk to... just ask for vicky cuz u wont be able to understand crap from the, tho very cool, english challenged owner.. they'll include everything (yes everything )... from afm to ignitor to the 3rd ecu plug... they'll have it in there with the swap package. anything else u need they'll get it for u (since they import the clips and pull the engines out themselves... they usually have everything included). and if something dont work.. theyll replace it..
oh btw dont pay attention to their site.. it hasnt been updated for years.. lol its better just to call 'em at (916) 386 2286. remember ask for vicky they also sell clips so if u wunna go that route thats cool too bboy -------------------- ..(formerly daily driven) 3S-GTE powered celica currently set @ 12psi.. |

Will they sell the odds and ends that one might need for the swap separately?

QUOTE(Yota @ Jun 5, 2005 - 7:36 AM) Will they sell the odds and ends that one might need for the swap separately? They won't do it through the internet or phone... but sometimes in person they will. Typically, I think they try not to part their clips and engine sets and such. -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"

Well for those of you with swaps already.... how has it been running, and how long have you been running it. Im looking at how reliable is it after the swap?

I have had very bad luck with maintenance issues after my swap but I think my experience has been worse than most. I have finally almost gotten everything dialed in now. over all everything runs great.....but you have to remember that now you own a turbo car, and that just needs more love and care. it will be the same way if you get the ripp charger tho. just get ready to pop the hood more often to doubble check how things are running. over all, its still a realiable toyota. there are lots of mr2 and alltrac owners out that the proove the motor is very realibable.
i dont really have anything else to tell except, NOT to get the motor/tranny combo. get a clip! you learn so much by just taking the 3s out of clip, you get lots of spare parts, you get to lable every plug and hose, so that you know where they go to later, you can sell off tons of parts, etc..... -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

A 3sgte is a 3sgte, they both mount the same way. The wiring is going to be different from year to year. There are a few suttle differences between generations, types of turbo's etc.. You really should take the time and search. |
