you have to do custom
if you have really swapped in a 3s-gte did you change your tranny? or the motor mounts? and you should've researched this better? |

A good auto shop can do this for you. You will need your intercooler first though and have it pre mounted. I am currenly ditchin my old piping system for a new better flowing one. I am having 2 IC pipes and a y piped dual intake made fully mandrel bent with no weld spots and powder coated for just under 500 bucks. if you looking for just the IC pipes then expect to pay around 300 for the deal. also if you dont have a front mount IC yet hit this guy upTjn115@aol.com I got my front mount from him for 275 bucks and it was shipped really fast. it bolts perfectly under the front bumper support, if you have the invader front airdam then its even better. the IC measurements are 30"x6"x2.5" its really long a and skinny but its exactly what you need for the 3sgte.
The only con about this intercooler is that even though they are brand new the dont have that "Chrome polish" look like some of the higher priced brands do. I powdercoated mine. costed me around 45 bucks and it looks awesome! - And no the powdercoatin isnt going to affect the charge rate of the air - I looked into it before I did it -------------------- 99 project version 3.0.. hello SEMA 2010 =) |

Mr. Hux,
How are you? I recognize you from the mr2 boards. I have seen your work with the 4age swap in the celica as well and am thoroughly impressed. I have some links to pics of the intercooler piping in the celica, let me see if I can find it for you. http://www.alltrac.net/images/intercooler/...praFrontIC2.jpg http://www.alltrac.net/images/intercooler/...ntercooler3.jpg http://www.alltrac.net/images/intercooler/.../st185bigic.jpg http://www.alltrac.net/tuning/frontICinstall.html the last one goes through the process of installing the intercooler hope that helps matt p.s. for anyone that doesnt know Mr. Hux has done some amazing things with both generations of mr2's as well as some in the celica world. Plus he makes some amazing parts. Are you doing a 3s swap into a celica? This post has been edited by chameleon95st: Apr 20, 2003 - 10:08 AM |

Thanks for the kind words and real reply Chameleon. Yes, I am doing a 3s in a 6gen but nothing heavy in the power department.

No problem,
Thats great to hear. Im sure it will turn out great! If you can, post some pics of the swap so everyone here can see the quality of your work. One nice thing about a lighter fwd car. Even a mildly modified 3s swap will still be a really quick car. regards matt |

Don't mean to be an ass but can we say HEAT SOAK? Also if you are using the stock hood your preformance won't be as good as say with a hood scoop or even better a front mount. But since you have the invader kit you can't really do the sleeper look . Bryan |

You can get a decently sized spearco intercooler off ebay right now for under 400 shipped. You will probably want to stay away from a long, thin intercooler as it isnt as generally very efficient. You would be best asking eric(the guy who started this thread). He is an engineer and im sure he could recommend something.

I have seen people install some type of heatshielding between the intercooler and the valve cover. Also, installing a puller fan on top of the intercooler would help as well. While it is true that it doesnt draw as much cool air, it is also alot shorter distance so the air leaving the intercooler doesnt have time to heat up. Dont get me wrong, I would prefer a front mount as well, but a top mount will do the job
