I definitely have decided to go with the 3rd gen instead of the second even tho parts for the st185 are more common...but money isnt really an issue for me right now so i can afford this engine...would you guys say this is a good deal or no?? I know a lot of people on here preach "go with a clip" but the fact is i will never find a front clip of a 3rd gen and i thought this engine looks pretty legit...yes..no...any ideas?? The same company also has a really clean looking second gen for only 1200 check it out.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...&category=33615 Thanks..all opinions are welcome...i need celica owner perspectives...!! |

Are you swapping yourself?
If not, just buy it. The clip is nice cuz it serves a reference and has all the little misc parts. But if it's a shop's problem, whatever. You just may have to wait longer. Is so, it would depend on how good of a wrench man you are. If you're skilled and know a lot about what you're doing, you make it out just fine. But if this is your first swap, I'd try to make it as easy as possible. You may be able to find a 3rd gen 205 3S on some of the links provided in the engine swap write up. It's a sticky at the top of this forum. -------------------- NASA/SCCA RX-7....currently under the knife

if you get a clip, you might be able to get the front bumper and hood. I know a guy on here got the hood with his clip

my friends are helpin me swap it...ive never done it before but they have many times on a bunch of hondas and one 5 gen celica... And yes i have checked those links many times but there are never any 3rd gen clips and i think i saw one for almost like 6 grand or something....i just wanted to know if the engine itself looks for the money...
PS...Would the price of a 3sgte go up or down as the months go by...aka does it become more rare or just older... |

more than likely, it'll go down, because it's older. Just thinking that on the fact of there IS a 4th gen 3s

Go to Venus, you can get the ST-205 clip for about the same price. It looks like you are going to have to pay for shipping either way. Definately third gen!
