My subs have just recently started cutting out, and I dont know why. I have 2 sony 1200 watt subs sharing a single 1200 watt dual channel sony amp. I don't use a capacitor, but the issue isnt a less hard bump, its more like a switch turning the subs on and off mid ride. What I mean is, they are shutting on and off at random while I drive. I've checked all my wires, everythings set fine. The grounding hasnt come loose since I installed it. In fact, only a housing screw for my box was loose and ive since re-set it. I use four guage cables from my battery to my amp through a 60 fuse, and 8,er maybe 12 I cant remember guage wire connecting everything else. At this point all I can think of is that my subs are going to hell, though it makes no sense for both to cut out simultaneously? And while I write this, I seem to remember something about a safety mechanism on sony amp's that causes a similar problem? Comments anyone? This is driving me nuts.

Edit: And I realize its a pos amp / subs

Well, check your ground again. Did u install it correctly (by that I mean did you clean the surface to bare metal). Your 2nd problem is that you bought SONY, they are just not good and they break a lot. Oh I almost forgot check your RCA connections behind the deck cuz that might be one of the problems + check the poweron wire (the blue one) from your deck, if it was cut or not connected properly it might just not give the amp enough electricity to power it on. Well I guess thats it.

Make sure your gain is set correctly.
