So im driving along and i realize im at 4k with no boost.... im like uhh. so i rev it and i hear snap crackle pop and then boost to 5psi then bamm smoke oil yeah. it was fun. so here are my options
by a new turbo.
go back to NA

but i said screw buying a new turbo since then i wont have the money for piston rods ect..
so no point in blowing the motor up. (the motor is fine) i cant belive it.

but i came to realize that this motor isnt really ment for boost unless u build it proper IE pistons rods ect. if i bought a larger more effcient turbo im sure this wouldnt of happend. but who knows that if i had a good turbo thqat my motor would have been the weakest link.

so im going NA till i can afford a 3sgte swap.
thats right im going to the darkside tongue.gif haha jp

but no really it will take time and money but i love this car to much to give up on it.
so yeah... RIP 5sfte

wow, the 5s is ok? did u check compression on the motor?

i really dont know what you 5s and 7a guys are doing wrong. ive talked to a lot of guys that are on their 2nd or 3rd turbo. meanwhile i have the same one that has lasted for over 60,000miles. you must not have the correct size oil or coolant lines going to it.

edit: and fyi, turbo lasted so long and the car has never had a turbo timer installed!

i would talk to manny to make sure your coolant or oil lines are not to big/small. its very very common for custom turbo guy to kill turbos left and right ... somethine about thes supply lines that must be casing the tubos to die (my opinion)

anyway, it will be great to see you join the 3sgte club!

yea itchy, it was just a matter of time with that t3...you would have been MUCH better off with a '26 twin entry..
sorry to hear about the death... wink.gif now you just get to build it bigger, and better

i was under the impression that the block internals are lightweight by design allready, and this helps quick rpm response and aids, in addition to the cam design, a smooth torque curve in the power band right up to peak power.

using a turbo just makes excessive heat and not just charge temps - coolant and oil will absorb heat too.

i'd like to know more about FE and FI..

Mannys been preachin the -3 oil feed and -12 oil drain sizes for quite some time. I hope its been beatin into everyones head by now. As long as you use these sizes, and your drain line isn't makin nasty curves, you should be okay in that department.

Itchy...were both your turbos used? Or did you rebuild one? Might have just been unlucky and got them when they're at the end of their life.

i redid my line with the new turbo with those lines. that wasnt the problem. after taking apart the turbo the retard who i bought it off had an o ring peice of metal backwards. and scored the back of the impeller causing it tocreat heat and friction. im getting to know the insides of turbos now lol

Well sounds like you've just had bad luck with turbo conditions. If all you need is a freshly rebuilt CT26, I'll have one for sale pretty soon, had an extra layin around the garage and am rebuilding it now. Let me know

Well if you are going back to NA and plan on unloading your turbo related parts I'd probably be interested in buying some/all.
