engine swap
EDIT: I'm assuming you just recently got the car, since you just joined 6gc.net...if so, first think about what you want to do, and not just "go faster!!" duh...think where you want to go faster...curvy backroads, dragstrip, autocross, or just a street terror...then decide how to make your car faster in that area (autocross=better suspension, tires, less weight, then power...drag=power, less weight, tires...backroads=autocross, street terror=drag)...don't know where that came from, lol...anyway, think of it as a guide, use it to keep from having to say "why did i waste my money on that? it didn't even do anything" ...and don't forget, RESEARCH...feel your car as you drive, where ever you decide to drive, find the weaknesses you experience in that area and fix it, then try again after you have put something on, find a new weakness, and fix that and so on...also using the search button on the forum can help you find solutions to weakness you find because somenone else has undoubtedly found the same problem and come up with a solution...Good luck!! I hate to sound like a broken record that it seems to be, but a 2nd gen 3sgte might be a good option. For that money, it might be a lot easier and better to go with a 4age or 4agze. They'll be some people comment that can elaborate on what I've said here.

yea ive already done a ton of research 3sgte swap will be alot of money and 4age is def waste of time and money i think considering ud only get 40-50 hp gain average...better of turboing the 7afe and redoing the internals..i just can decide what to do and what would be the most reliable and not to far out there deal....id like a 3sgte but swapping into an st is a hell of alot harder than a gt considering u need new tranny and mounts but what would you all recommend doing with the money? saving and doin the swap or what? im bettin it will cost round 6k for a swap

You can also sharply alter the price of whatever you do by how much labour you're willing to put in.
Read up on the 4AGZE swap, which wouldn't require the same level of work as a 3SGTE. You might be surprised by the results reported. |

there is only 1 4agze ina celica done my H8D
work done my DMC..........he won't have much to read up on :/ but 2300 if you want zoom turbo the 7afe its a good option but short of swapping or turbo there is nothing to really make you fast *and faqdaworld has 4agze too* This post has been edited by playr158: Jun 9, 2005 - 9:24 AM |

hmm. i would do what art said. hang on to the money and think throughly what you want out of your celi. if ya going handling, go coilovers or springs, swaybars, struts, rims, tires, strut braces etc... personally, i would go handling then power. but that's just me lol...

If you really love Celicas, sell the ST and get a GT. Me, I was already too attached to my ST before I knew about cars. I make enough to finance the tC(which I love!), but I just wouldn't be ab;e to let the Celi go. Lol. In your situation I would really think about what to do. How many miles does your car have? Because I have 196,000 miles on the 7A... I was going to turbo and do the internals, rebuild, etc. But I'd rather swap the GZE because it'll have less miles and someone can swap that in for me instead of me having to rebuild the engine. So I'm just waiting for the 7A to blow up(I got nitrous to help me out with that) and then I'm just going to get the GZE.

my bad. i didnt mean to piss you off or anything. i was just thinking thats what i would have done because then u can get a cheap gt and swap a 3s later on for cheaper than u could on an st. but yea bro, sorry about that.
fasterplease, you could also swap a 4agze, which is what im planning to do soon. is that okay with you plyr? This post has been edited by JoKeRkId613: Jun 9, 2005 - 9:25 PM -------------------- |

well u know what come to think of it that is actually a good idea...i could prob get 7k for my st and turn around and buy a dead engine gt with a few dents for 3-4k then spend the rest of the money for the swap

I say he builds up all the internals and then put 75 wet shot of nitrous on there or go with the custom turbo kit that way wither of those options he will be able to boost more or use more nitrous. Maybey even get up to a 100 shot if the motor is real strong.

"u can get a cheap gt and swap a 3s later on for cheaper than u could on an st."
not true cause yes you could sell the ST and buy a GT then you owe money on a GT plus the cost of a swap if you have an ST its cheaper to swap into an ST instead of buying a GT then swapping into that OIE people don't pay attention to financials |

well i dont know how much a gt costs in your area, but here you can get them from 1,500-2,500. and those run good. now if he sells the st for 7k(which nobody in my area would pay for an st... hooked up or not), that leaves him with 9,300.now lets say he bought a good gt, that leaves him back at 6,800 which is more than enough for a 3s swap and maybe some extra stuff here and there. this is of course considering he sold the st at 7k, which like i said, wouldnt happen in miami. but w.e.
