I have nothing against the 6gc, in fact I'm planning to get one as soon as I get out of basic. But I have a question. The other night I was just cruising around and a 6gc GT pulled up next to me at a stoplight. I don't really know what this guy was thinking, but he revved and I just sat there. He had an exaust and a CAI ( at least I think it was a CAI, i could hear the intake ). When the light turned green, we both floored it. He got a little ahead of me, but when I hit about 60, the race was over. I shot ahead and completly lost the Celica. In case you're wondering, I drive a '78 Lincoln Mark V with a 460 engine. The engine is factory rated at 212hp, I'm not sure of the torque number. The engine is in pretty bad shape, and on the last rebuild they put in a truck cam.

Anyways... My question is, can I make my Celica ( once I get it ) fast enough to beat my Mark V?

You beat him in a Mark V, man that thing is a boat. I would say an intake, exhaust, and better cams would do it, I had a boss that had just the Continental and he couldn't come close to me.

If you want a fast car... a celi, unfortunetally, isn't you best choice.

If you want a hot car that looks fast, and does alright for mileage and a super reliable daily driver.. a celi is right up your alley.

--------------------
If anyone needs interior stuff, etc, I'm parting whats left of my celi out. Just ask.

well if you have about 4 grand you can swap out the engine with a 3sgte jdm engine from japan doin between 225 and 251 hp stock....put in another 4 grand new turbo intercooler injectors and stand alone and you are easily at 400hp with a 4cylinder turbo and with the power to weight ratio the celica will most likely kick anythings ass if u can get it to grip the road with some nice 215 stickys

I guess nobody realizes that all you want to do is out run a 212 hp car that weighs as much as a full size truck, I bet that car weighs 4,300 lbs. Like I said before a full exhaust, intake, and cams with a less economical profile and you'll be set. If you did a swap you'll destroy the Lincoln.

Nothing easy about it. And you forgot cams which are almost a necessity to reach that power level.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

Let's not forget, the Celica was never intended as a drag car. Its titles are in WRC.

Yes. Yes, it's seriously rapid.

In fact, if you have time. I fully believe that my car is in the top 2% of ways to get down a decent bit of B-road available.

Seriously, she's quick.

Quicker when the new clutch/fly/brakes are fitted.

You're only as fast as you can see, and only as brave as your brakes.

Blitz Spec NUR Exhaust, somewhere over $1000
Needing another one 18000 miles later, bloody annoying.
