i know that everyone has seen this so called "performance chip" for sale on ebay. it promises to add 10 to 20 hp. well i always thought it was crap and would never consider buying it but i have a friend who spends all his spare time online and bought this thing off ebay for me. its just a wire looking thing that is supposed to plug into the intake temp sensor and from what i got out of reading the instructions it just tricks the ecu by sending a signal saying the air is actually colder than it is thus adding more fuel. i was gonna put it in and give it a try but i don't know if its a good idea. from reading it i think i would be running rich. but i don't know that much. would that really be bad for the engine? is this thing worth a try? i don't really care either way since it was free and all but if it would make any difference i figure its worth a try if it wont be disasterous to my engine. give me some input what do you guys think

I dont think it would be too bad for your engine if you try it out......but if it tricks your ECU into sending more fuel than necessary, then you'll be running pretty rich and might make your engine run rough and dirty if you dont have a way to ignite it all. I personally wouldnt use it, use a JET V-Force or Venom 400 instead, preferably a JET V-force since ive read up on it quite a bit lately, and seems to be an inexpensive and easy chip mod with some good potential for power

Thats probably the best way to do it........but personally im not very technically or mechanicly inclined, so i dont think i would know how to properly adjust my fuel/air/ignition timing with that setup. The JET solution seems a little more user friendy and easier to install, and although it might not give me the same gains it will give me a more efficient fuel map than stock without too much hassle. From what i can tell its the best route to go as far as ECU/performance chip upgrading goes. -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |

"hey west minist
they do not understand that most horsepower does not come cheaply or spending atleast a moderate amount of money." as a matter of fact i do understand that it cost money to build power. but unforunately i have to pay my own bills as well as put myself throught school all on a grocery store pay. so dont mind me if i ask a simple question. there was no need for a stupid remark like that all i wanted was a more informed answer since i do not know everything about cars, so if your gonna make stupid remarks do it somewhere else. not where i am asking a legitimate question. |

Tried it, thinking its only $6 shipped already so what the heck. You wont notice the difference on regular driving only. But when I went to the track( I got there late though )and had the chance for 1 run and that time not knowing they were using Pro tree lights did not anticipate it. Reaction was 1.06 and still manage to run 17.3 @ 79mph. With out that chip with reaction 0.6--- I used to ran 17.2 at 73 mph. Im concluding If my reaction time was thesame as I used to I could have hit probably high 16s. Although my best time on my car is 16.9 on a cold weather. So you do the Math. Im planning on running again just to check if it made a difference. I'll let you know guys.

Boy is this going to be long. That is true. Regardless if you sweep the street, it will always cost money. I ordered a Nology coil last week and I have alot of people running me down for it. cost cost cost. That is all that you get. So everyone, I understand your problems. That is my this normal mod is th cheapest and slightly dirty one to get more hp. -------------------- West_Minist

If the Jet can do that, so be it. Have not research it. You see to me, I like to spend money one time. I do not like going back. I wait and wait and wait until I can get something good to do what I want it to do. I do not play around. So Motec 4 or 48 is for me. |

maybe 5 - 10hp. You see, after a fuel upgrade, you now need to ignite that fuel properly. Once you have a good Air filter in a cool place, the next step is an igniton box with coil. My son, go quickly and buy a Crane Cam HI6TRC w/ LX92 Coil w/ Nology Hotwires. Gain hear can be up to 10-20hp. A customer header can get you more. My estimates are on the G head. I am not sure on the F head in the 5SFE. After that my son, see to yourself an APEXI SAFC. -------------------- West_Minist
