first its 800w peak 400RMS

but other than that, i think for the money it is one of the best subs, kicker hits hard as hell, theyre just not very known.

they have very good SQ too. its not just a SPL sub. it resembles the sound of a type R

Kicker Comp VR's are more SPL oriented like most of Kickers new crap.... they dont have much SQ, so im not sure where you got that from... they like alot of power.. ported is really the better way to go with Comp VR's.... ive handled alot of em... good subs though... way better than the crappy Solo Barics.. and not well known? i garauntee atleast 75% of car audio shops sell Kicker..

also you will want an amp that does around the RMS of the sub or maybe up to 600rms @ 2ohms.... a mono amp would be best for this... hell they are really the only way to go i think..

I have two 12" CompVR's pushed by a pretty rare Lanzar amp. I think they sound Really good. They hit hard and have pretty good sound quality. I made this video last year with them in my Taurus that I no longer have. If you have good computer speakers with a sub, you'll be able to hear them, but, obviously, not exactly how the Kickers sound. If you don't have a sub with your computer speakers, don't bother downloading it, all you'll hear is buzzing. tongue.gif Another thing, in the video, the camera picked up some of the bass as just a loud noise and it makes a buzzing sound...when the camera goes closer to the subs it sounds better though. My friend is the one who was taping, so blame him. wink.gif Click HERE for the video clip. Enjoy the gHeTtO BEATZ. rolleyes.gif My upload is only 384Kb/s so save the file if you want to watch it again, not just redownload it from me. Its about 12mb

Oh another thing, my CompVR's are the older style ones. 8ohm each. The Lanzar amp puts out 720 watts rms to each channel at 2ohm. 400watts rms at 4ohm (they're wired to be 4ohm on the amp, so each gets the exact wattage that the sub can handle. smile.gif )

Pali_playa i can't agree with you on this one, the Type R isn't anything like the kicker. Its got so much more quality. Don't u have a Type R???

the guy has been knocking kicker since he's been on here. The VRs are good speakers for the price. In the right box w/ correct power they sound pretty clean.

I love my SL7 (vented box) havent had any complaints and know what the type R sounds like also(sealed box) & the comp vr is a good sub for the price just match the RMS and dont go w/ a bigger amp. dont want to mess your coils up.

ive never liked the square subs from Kicker... sure they can get loud, but theres a difference in getting loud and sounding good.. none of em sound good... the reason i dont like the L5 or L7 is because of: 1. pressure points. 2. theres a problem with the tensel leads breaking 3. for the price you can get better.

now the old Solo's were awesome(round solo's).. also if you are referring to me when you say "and i hate when people knock on stuff before they try it" then you are wrong.... i have heard all Kicker has to offer... not in a demo board at some shop either... well i havent heard their Kicker Resolution comps. but sub and amp wise ive heard em all... anyway... the Comp VR is a better choice than the L5/L7's because of the price... no pressure points, and its capable of getting just as loud as either sub.... but just like the L5/L7.. they like alot of power... the Comp series isnt bad either.. but the choice is up to you.. i mean some people have great luck with the L5/L7 and some dont..

Thing is if its all set up right then any sub can sound good. I've had my L7s for over 2 years now and havent had any problems with anything you've mentioned. The corners still are completely intacted, all connections are firmly in place, and the sound quaility is great. With that said I also have each connected to a KX600.1 amp running on 2 ohms. Individually boxed in vented boxes made to exact specs. & at right frequences and gain settings have one of the cleanest hits i've heard out of any sub. If the setup is done correctly anything can sound good. Problem is most ppl get cheap or to big of an amp for subs. They spend alot of money on the subs then buy a crappy amp and dont get the right box. Then the squares dont sound good, yes they get loud but dont sound good at all.

Key thing is get a really good quality amp. Dont get cheap on the amp and get some good quaility subs. The comp VRs will work fine if you want a clean system. But get a box that is made for the VRs specs and get a good amp.

Guys, for the 100-200 (each) price range, whats a good 12" for a dual setup in a ported box with a crunch 1000 watt amp?
Thanks ahead of time, its time to replace my old fosgates.

great sub for the money: elemental designs 12k.v2. That crunch probably only puts out about 300w or so RMS, (make sure u figure that out before buying a sub). Find out the wattage output per channel and then get your subs with the right voice coil configuration. Check out edesignaudio.com for those 12k´s... IMO they are better than those kickers...and they have a 3 year factory direct warranty. Ed.
