yup the topic tell's it all, i washed the engin bay once. then the squeeking started. but it is only when i turn on the car, and i turn the steering wheel. that's it.
even when the the car is warm.

i've used the prestone belt dressing, and it left. but this week (w/ high humidity down here in the DC area) it came back...

do i need to WD-40 the bearings on the pullies? or somthing??? what can i do confused.gif

thnx in advanced for all of the help.

It's either your belt or your pulley more than likely your belt. Just replace it. Usually if your power steering fluid is low or pump is worn it will make a whining noise not a squeeking/squeeling noise.

There are rails to adjust those belts on. Check if they're loose, and if so, get your metric wrenches, jack it up, and go to work. Make sure you have a breaker bar/prybar, and be careful what you pull on. Don't overtension them either, it will wear the bearings unevenly and you will need new belts/bearings/pulleys, depends what goes out first.

Belt dressing will wear off, mine were so bad at times that they needed dressing on every startup/run.

Also, turn off the AC/fan if it does it on startup, it may be that belt too.

If anyone needs interior stuff, etc, I'm parting whats left of my celi out. Just ask.

Sounds like my current car, gotta love Mitsubishis... rolleyes.gif

Its most likely the belts, see if it is off the track or loose, thats what usually causes squeaking. If you do change out the belt make sure the pulleys don't have any real big chips in them because that can mess up your belt (one of mine did and it was a PITA for 2 months constantly changing the belts).

Maybe its time to get some new belts? When was the last time you changed them? Mileage?

I had this exact problem when i first got my celica. i got rid of it by buying a new pulley (which helped a little), and by adding power steering fluid which finally got rid of it.

owner off a 95 celica st... hoping overtime to be 1 kick ass machine =).

Upgrades (comming soon)- 3sgte engine swap
- small engine tweaks here and there
- new paintjob (black w/ overlay of blue pearl)

possible future upgrades- gt4 hood/bumper
- upgrade the 3sgte turbo.
