as the title says !

what does a boost controler do, will it increase your boost ?
why do people with boost controlers clam to have more power ?

or am i just being total stupid and not understanding something, cause all the blub i read where there selling them never explains exsactly what they do or why you need them, they seem to think if you need one you know what it does...

please shed some light on this for me...

thanks

please do a search on your questions before u post.

a boost controller controls the boost. hence the name boost controller.

a boost controler, and a boost gauge, are 2 totally diffrent things.
a boost controler goes between your wastegate actuator and turbo, and basicly bleeds off boost to the actuator, makeing it see less boost then what your actually making, which in turn makes the wastegate stay closed longer, and that causes you to build more boost which = more hp. wink.gif a good electronic boost controler goes about 400+ or more, there are also manual boost controlers which are genrally much cheaper( i paid ~50 for mine) but dont offer the in-cabin adjustability, and genrally will spool a TINY bit slower.

and the whole idea is .... you can use the boost controler to turn up your boost past the factory settings.....and that makes your car faster. you gain around 10hp for every 1psi of boost that you add.

"a boost controler goes between your wastegate actuator and turbo, and basicly bleeds off boost to the actuator, makeing it see less boost then what your actually making, which in turn makes the wastegate stay closed longer"

I would rather say it is a regulator that doesnt feed anything to the actuator until at the desired boost... then when the pressure you limit the boost to is reached, the controller opens and actuates the wastegate, and then the wastegate bypasses the turbo, and holds it at your set pressure.. to be technical.

But hes still right.

popstar, buy this book, and read it cover to cover: http://btobsearch.barnesandnoble.com/books...isbn=0837601606

even if i'm a noob, at least i know to do a search, or what the search button is for, or to search on google or howstuffworks.com

and search and search before asking... correct me if that is not the right procedure

Check the Greddy Profec B or Type - S boost controlers, pretty cheap (run around 200$ used) pretty acurate and simple to use.
