lots of tranny swap questions (5sfe) 5spd, 5SFE TRANNY GUYS HELP PLEASE Options

The relay that is behind the right kick panel, it's black, it has 10 amp fuse is that the clutch release relay? If it isn't where is it? Also do I NEED it for my auto to manual swap?
Where's the cruise relay? How do i make that work in an auto to manual swap?
I need to connect the backup light somehow too, how can I do that? I don't have that relay or plug or whatever for a 5 speed...

My mechanic said this I quote: "do we need to connect the yellow and black and the white and black as the neutral start switch?"

There is a plug that goes into the top of the transmission, all you need is that little plug and wire the correct wires to that plug and thats it. See the wiring part of the above link again.

Check out the wiring again on the page. It seems confusing but its not. You don't need the starter relay to make the car run, all you have to do is splice the 2 wires together, and the car will start and run fine. This will bypass the need to push the clutch in to start the car so be careful. I still don't have the starter relay on my car, and its been like 3 months, or the reverse light plug, I've yet to get someone to cut it off of their engine harness and send it to me.

Also if you plan on using the manual ecu you will run into problems, the auto ecu one of the plugs in like 21 pin where the manual ecu is 12 or something like that. You can just use the auto ecu you will just get a CEL all the time, and if you had overdrive your overdrive light will flash.

I'm sorry RJB, i'm not mechanically inclined. Can you paste the parts of that to answer my questions. My mechanic doesn't want to rig anything up really, he wants to make it as factory as possible...

Its basically the whole section on wiring, you could just print it out and take it to your mechanic and he should understand it.

The pics are not to clear but basically you need to buy the cruise cancel switch probably from a dealer and then find the wire that is up under your dash to plug into it. Your mechanic will hopefully know how to do this.

don't mean to jack this thread.. but i'm just wondering... if you have an auto GT and you do a manual swap.. is it as hard as swapping in a new engine?
cause i'm just wondering should i buy an auto car and get the swap done since the autos are more common...

if you plan to do an engine swap later... and you needa swap transmission anyway would it be better to just get a normal gt transmission or another one? (not sure if there is one that fits both a 5sfe and a 3sgte)

No swapping an auto to a manual is really easy to do. It just seems complicated, basically its the same thing as taking doing a clutch replacement, you just have to add a few things like a pedal, clutch master cylinder, slave, and tubing. Splice 2 wires together if you dont want a netrual safety switch, change your shifter and put the shift cables in and your done. And yea you can use the gt tranny for the 3s swap, but you cant use the gt tranny if you have an st.

Depends on the year of your car, your going to need a wiring diagram for the yea of your car.

Are you doing the swap or is your mechanic? Seriously if your mechanic is doing the swap and doesn't understand the link I posted you should take it else where.
