I am sure everyone is wondering this, since I have searched the posts and not really gathered substantial evidence to make my decision. I hear from some that KYB's are perfectly fine, while I hear from other's that they suck ass. I only want to lower my car 1.5-1.75", but if the KYB's are going to be a waste of money, I won't bother. I am also curious as to what the hell this clicking/knocking/clanging noise everyone is experiencing really IS? I mean, if when I lower my car it's going to be making ugly noises, I'm not interested. Sure, it looks good, but i'm also going for all around quality! I am willing to give up a little bit of smooth ride for the lowering, if KYB's are ok for that. I would appreciate input from those who actually have KYB's on their lowered car, but it is open for everyone. I know that Koni Yellow's are superior but let's face it, $600 in shocks plus the labor of welding in the back just isn't worth it to me. for that, i'll invest in a 3s-gte and screw lowering my car!
If KYB's are good/decent, which springs go the best with them?
Please be sure to address the cling/clang issue, because if it is normal sound, I really don't think it's worth it to lower my car. And if any one knows anything about those "Tom's" springs, please speak up because let's face it... $98 is umm... pretty damn good. smile.gif
KYB's + TRD Springs = ?
KYB's + Eibach Sportlines = ?
KYB's + Coilovers = ?
This hopefully will provide answers to those who want to lower their car. Ed.

I have several theories as to why my KYB + Eibacjh 1.5's don't work. I assembled it incorrectly (probable), I'm missing pieces (probable, washers, rubber thingies), the shocks themselves are bad (not likely), the KYB's don't work with lowering springs (not likely). I'll test whether the stock springs make the same noises with the KYB's this weekend. Since others have had them installed by shops with no probs, I can only assume that they work fine together. If I can get them to work nicely together, I'll let you know.

yea rivo, i hate to say it, but you got a problem there...
anyway, ive got the sportlines and kybs, and there great. no problems. and i love the handeling. now as far as the creeks and rattles, rebember that if you got a 94 like me, the car is almost 10yrs old...the bushings are worn...its gonna creek abit and ****..especialy if you drive aggressivly, like i do...lol gotta love those twisty-turnys!!! biggrin.gif

lol, I do have a 95. It does this however, just rolling down the street. What other bushing are there to replace 'sides the sway bar? I know there's the ball joint bushing, and the sway bar linkage bushings...also, it never made these noises with the stock springs...well it did some, but nothing like this :-P

I just put the eibach sportline with my stock shocks and up to now, no problems....
For a big 225$ canadian (160$us?), put it on myself, geeee, not too expansive for a drop...lol !
When they will be worn, I'll go for the koni yellows.
There aren't any clingclang sounds coming out from my car....the rear shocks are few months old. Usually, the rear shocks are making the noise, the other things are bushings.....this is not a lot of money to change them all and get peace for another 10 years.
But usually, the shocks are making the noises....Your bushings have to be quite worn to make noise, so if they do, change them wink.gif
