My buddy back home was with his wife in my Celi and there's a guy in this Mitsubishi Mirage that wanted some...so the guy in the Mirage jumps ahead and my buddy floors it and he said the Mirage looked like he hit reverse in fast forward, hehe, then he saw the Carrera try to catch up, so he nailed it and let it go, the Carrera lined up and he heard the Carrera go in WOT...said it sounded damn cute, hehe, so he nailed it and he left the Carrera behind. He said he was running boost higher than I ever did. I hope he doesn't blow my engine, LOL, but he said his wife was all excited because they smoked a more expensive car than mine. biggrin.gif

He is telling me right now that the car takes off strong but at 4,000 it gets crazy and it even spins the wheels a lot. I don't know what the hell my buddy is doing with my car, but sure as hell I am loving it...and if the engine breaks, he can fix it...he's the one that rebuilt it in one night! smile.gif

that's pretty crazy dude! do you still have the 7afe with auto tranny? also, was it difficult to install the turbo? what are you boosting (still a little over 12?)?

just asking because i also have a 7afe, auto. i just want to know it's capabilities.

He said it was changing boost on him...didn't tell me the boost level but I am assuming around 10-12...which on my turbo is good power because it has a pretty good size compressor. It's still on the stock 7A-FE with stock auto tranny. We are going to keep it until it breaks, hehe. Turbo install was cake...but it's so easy to miss any important details...that is why I broke a piston when I turbocharged it.

It cost me over $ 4,000 because I bought pretty much everything name brand and spakin' new. But that was for parts, miscellanous stuff was like over $2,000 plus other expenses when parts wouldn't fit. I have spent way too much on my car and I don't see it yet, hehe.

I have no clue, man, haha. Those cars have from 315 to 325 on the S and 4 S and 4xx on the turbo. That one was a non-turbo so it was either S or 4S...it's a 13 second car so I assume my friend was boosting higher than usual/recommended. Still, he embarrased the guy and that is all that matters, LOL.

Sounds like a nice set-up that should give you lots of smiles. However, lets take a reality pill here. The Porshe and the ST (even with FI) are in two different leagues. I guarantee that it was either driver related, the porsche had mechanical issues, or the guy wasn't getting on it 100%.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

I second that. My best guess is the guy was just driving normal and he thought the porche was racing him, lol. The guy that owns the jewerly shop right next to me took me out in his Porche 911 Turbo, and if the 2 porches are anything alike, I HIGHLY doubt a turbo charged celica could take him.

I third it, my friend has a porshe 940 series I forget which one its not the 944 but kinda looks like it. It's not that fast and its heavy and an automatic but its still going to be faster than a 190-200 whp car. Which is about what the st would be getting with 12 psi.

The guy said "carrera" Do they call the boxster carreras too? I assumed he was talking about the $400,000 super car.

jgreening, you're thinking about the carrera gt. but never the less, porshe carreras are fast but not unbeatable. my cousin has a 97 jetta that he souped up enough to beat a carrera.

oobie, you must be boosting like crazy and have your car running great. props (i just hope that the porsche was racing and got his butt kicked!)

i hope the porsche wasnt racing, I'd hate to see such a beautiful car lose to a celica. Sorry guys, i love my celica, but the porsche just looks more sexy. Oh ya, the Carrera is not a boxster, the carrera GT is the "super car" that blaque mentioned. Big difference.

I understand that is hard to believe, guys. smile.gif But I haven't believed bigger things and they end up being true. I talked to my buddy today...he confessed he was boosting quite high with the 550cc Venoms, hahahaha, he's trying to break it. I told him I didn't want to know boost level, hah!. He really wants forged internals on the engine, LOL. biggrin.gif The Carrera he ran was a 2001 Porsche 911 Carrera coupe, which is only a 13 second car and is way heavier than my Celi. The point here is that the 7A-FE held together, is automatic and smoked a cocky owner who instigated the race in his pricy Porsche...that is ALL. My engine survived over 12 PSI, *+1300 EGTs on stock injectors with a broken piston...now it survived this...I am trying something different in a month when I go there. smile.gif

*EDIT: 1300 not 13000!
