Hey all... I've noticed that when there is a pretty heavy rain.. the drivers side floor gets soaked... I tried to find how it was getting in the car by pulling up the carpet and spraying the car then seeing where it came in. I couldn't see exactly but it was looked like it was coming from up by the door where the wires go into the car from the door. I think water is coming from the engine bay, down behind the fender, and onto the wires where it follows them into the car...
Anyone have this problem before? any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks :-) -------------------- ~Daniel~ No Longer Celica Owner.. moved on to a 03 WRX-EJ207

Shouldn't there be some kind of drain tube either under the hood or behind the fender? Maybe yours is clogged so it's taking a different route.

do you have a pic of this tube? cuz above where the wires go in is a oval hole with a lip on it... I think water comes out of there from the engine bay too.

Sorry, no pics. I just know there is some kinda drain for water that gets between the windshield and hood. Try pulling off your fender.

hmm do you have a sunroof? I have the same problem but it happens on the passingers side. I haven't fixed it yet, but while i was trying to figure out the problem I cleaned out the drain holes in the sun roof. If you stand up through the roof and look at either corner of the roof you will see two holes, get a wire hanger or something like that and push through it. I had a lot of crap in mine and it was backing up into the roof, but i also have a problem with the seal so my car is still leaking. and if you dont have a sun roof, i guess i just took up some space here lol

Do the top corners of your windshield have any rust ?
Any peeling/cracking of the seal around the windshield anywhere ? Any water to the left of the pedals on/above the kick panel ? or just on the floor ? durring a rainy day or after it rains you need to look/feel up under the dash for any wetness, also it is possible that the floor pan under the driver's side is rotting through and water gets up and in that way -------------------- |

I do have a sunroof... but I haven't seen any water inside the car around the roof... where does the water in those holes lead?
I haven't noticed any rust or cracking of windshield seals.. The water is concentrated on the center part of the drivers side floor. I have felt around the kick panel and the pedals but don't feel water.. when i did a spray test, I put paper towels down to show where water is going.. and it looks like its coming from underneath the wires under the kick panel... but my dad and i tried to tape and use sealant on the wires... still gets in somehow.. If anyone has any ideas or ways of fixing it... please let me know... Thank You! :-) -------------------- ~Daniel~ No Longer Celica Owner.. moved on to a 03 WRX-EJ207

good pictures. I have a similar problem, I just haven't had the time to diagnose like you have.
Take the fender off and check for holes/rust leakage Take off the wiper cowl and check under there -------------------- |

QUOTE(Jaws4God @ Jul 31, 2005 - 11:43 PM) how hard is it to take off the fender? anyone have a how to? this is from John's the sidemarker how-to 7. There are 3 top bolts in the engine bay, and 1 bolt near the bottom of the a-pillar inside the door-jam. These bolts are circled in pictures 2 and 3 on the right. Remove these bolts. there are the 5-6 holding on the wheel well plastic and 3 holding the fender onto the front bumper (10mm, about 12" extension, and a swivel will get those out) -------------------- |

Thank you so much batman... but i realized i can't easily take the fender off... my body kit is molded on... :-(
so i guess the only way i can look behind the fender is to take the wheel off and the plastic wheel well cover like i did before to try to seal those wires :-( man this is frustrating... i don't like leaks... I hope there is an easy fix that i just haven't realized yet.. -------------------- ~Daniel~ No Longer Celica Owner.. moved on to a 03 WRX-EJ207

I had similar issue on the passenger side - it turned out that rubber seals for cabling inside the fender (when you take the plastic shielding out) were worn out and letting the water in. I have sealed them and ... I am waiting for another heavy rain to see if it worked.
