ok i went to spec clutches and send them a email.
The clutch that i have is still very good and does not slip one bit. I believe it is a ACT setup. Can I use the pressure plate that i have and just buy a new disk? remember im keeping my GT tranny but keeping the 3sgte flywheel -------------------- |

yeah i have the same setup as what your going for. 5sfe s54 tranny with a jdm 3sgte. it will be fine. might aswel buy the whole clutch setup, there are different clamping loads for every clutch setup. its up to you though. i mean you could, but who knows how long it would last esp since its meant for the power of a 5sfe not a 3sgte.

ok
So the bolt pattern on a gt preassure plate is the sam as the 3sgte plate. I am going crazy looking for a gt disk and a 3sgte preassure plate. Can I just buy a entire setup for a gt. with a stronger plate and disk. Higher stage. Thank you again -------------------- |

read the stickies, its all in there. you can call up a company like spec, tell them that your doing a 3sgte swap with a gt tranny, and they will sell you a custom clutch kit with everything you need.
QUOTE Lagos wrote: Clutch: if using the gt tranny with the 3sgte motor, you will need: 5sfe disk (or a custom made 3sgte disk, with the splines for the 5sfe tranny) 5sfe throwout bearing 5sfe alignment tool 3sgte pressure plate 3sgte flywheel (or just get your stock one resurfaced) if you are going to use an mr2 turbo tranny, then all you need to do is buy a clutch kit for a 90-93 turbo mr2. becareful when buying clutch disks for the 5sfe tranny. a stage 1 disk for the 5sfe is not the same thing as a stage 1 disk for the 3sgte. so if you get something like a stock oem clutch or a ACT street disk, it probably will not hold the power you need to put down. if you call up a company like Spec or Clutchmasters and tell them about your project, they can make you a custom disk that can hold the power you will make and have the correct spline count that you need. wait im sorry if i was misleading. the GT Pressure plate will not bolt up to a 3sgte flywheel.
What you need is: A 3sgte pressure plate A 3sgte clutch disc with 5sfe tranny splines. spec sells this as a kit made especially for us. Thanks
I thought I have read that somewhere. Now it is clear. I received the email from spec. This is the email Yes, you will need our pn ST62_5S, which will get you the correct disc and setup. Fill in the _ with the stage number you choose. Let me know if I can answer any other questions.! I need something durable, considering it is a daily driven car In NYC. I drive it hard but I don’t burn rubber too often. What do you guys suggest? -------------------- |

Lagos my celica has a s54 tranny, and my orignial motor was the 3SGE not 5SFE I think it also comes in this model just to clarify. Right? -------------------- |

Yup both are S54 tranny. But the 3S-GE S54 have a smaller differiental. So top speed is a bit higher.
Both if your tranny comes from a Beams engine I dont think a standard 3S-GE/5S-FE performance clutch will work. -------------------- JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!
