How do i remove the airbags sensors. Im not really concerned about the airbags for now, but i want to remove the 2 round sensors in the front. Has anybody done it or relocarte them. They look stupid when looking through the invader grill. Can i just cut the wires to them, or will they go off or something?

Why remove something that may save your life one day? It would be smarter to just learn to live with them showing or get another grill.

Are they yellow like the rest of the airbag system? Maybe you could paint them black. Or make a box around them, as long as it's something soft like balsa wood, it has to break easily so it doesn't reduce the airbags effectiveness.

If you're going to remove them(and I don't recommend it unless you no longer have airbags), then I would first pull the battery ground cable(and make sure it can't come in contact with the negative battery post.) Then wait at least 90 seconds(The Toyota BGB says 90 seconds...that's where I got that number.) Then, just to be safe, I'd disconnect both airbags from inside the steering wheel(3 T30 Torx bits hold it on) and behind the glovebox(which is held on by 5 philips head screws.) Then, I'd disconnect the harnesses from the air bag sensors(cutting wires doesn't make much sense) and pull the sensors.

Seriously though, unless you don't have airbags, it's not a bright idea to pull the sensors. Like others said, airbags can save your life. I don't have them, but that's only because my driver's airbag was damaged so I pulled it.

Im one of those strong believers that airbag dont really do **** for you. My wife totaled her 2003 Eclipse in a head on collision and the dam things didnt even go off. I think im gonna relocated them or something. I gotta remove the drivers side anyway so i can install my Momo Steering Wheel.

If you are still planning on removing them, I would also disconnect the wire to the control box(I think that is what it is called) which is located directly below your center armrest console. Without the sensors hooked up, it might send a signal for the airbags to deploy and than you will be buying a windshield because of the passenger airbag.

I took off my sensors on my wrecked car but it was missing the bumper so it was'nt much problem getting into it. I think it takes a torx bit to remove them, but good luck getting your hands into a spot to do much.
